Doesn't the Naenhoon sigil basically give 2/day DMM? And since it's mostly used for Persist, and Persist basically takes enough turn attempts you can only usually do it twice or three times a day, isn't it more optimal to take Illumian as one's race and save the feat?

It's only 2/day (preventing huge stackbuffs), but yes, it can work.

Note that using this method to save a feat might prove counterproductive if you consider the opportunity cost of not going Human. And with stuff like Nightsticks out there, DMM is still the higher power here in the long term, if you ask me.

The biggest advantage I see for it is that it clarifies how it works with DMM:Heighten, and that this isn't restricted to Divine spells.

Not that Illuminian is a bad race IMO, and well you could always do the extended persisten trick to make your spells function for two days and that way you could have up to 4 persistant spells going one, which isn't bad hmmm the four heart of [element] spells or how about wraithstrike?

It's usually Divine Power, so you're as good as the fighter at fighting, but with spells as well. Add Heroism for feats to taste.

The other benefit is that it's more flexible than DMM the feat since it allows for any metamagic feat instead of just one. Get some use out of heighten and quicken for once, maybe.

Heart of (element) spells all last 1 hour / CL by default, so you don't really need to persist them.

The big difference is that Naenhoon isn't limited to divine spells, so it can be used by a Dread Necromancer, a Sorcadin with Sacred Exorcist levels, and spells cast via (Greater) Anyspell. Chances are if you use this on a divine spellcaster, you'll want both the Spell domain and DMM: Persist anyway. If you're not using any of the above that DMM: Persist won't work with, you're still better off going Human and using that extra feat toward DMM: Persist, you'll get an extra skill point/level over an Illumian.
