I remember reading about a low-level Sor/Wiz spell somewhere that deals a lot of damage in a straight, xft by 5ft line. What is it, and which splatbook is it in?

Scorcher is pretty good at 2nd level, too. (for a 2nd level blasty spell, anyway.)

I believe she means scorch from spell comp. or Aganazzar's Scorcher from I'm not sure where.

Aganazzar's Scorcher and Scorch are the same spell, Scorch being the official name (i think). Aganazzar's Scorcher is what the same spell was called in 2nd Edition :smallsmile:

It was called Aganazzar's Scorcher in the book it was from, too. Spell Compendium removed setting-specific names from many of the spells that it took from other books.

I think Aganazzar's Scorcher is still in 3rd edition, but it's a Forgotten Realms specific name. Scorch is the name for everywhere else.

For us to answer this properly, I think you need to define "low-level" and "a lot of damage". This could be several spells.
