Ways to boost melee Attack bonus

I'm looking for ways to reliably boost a melee character's attack bonus. Preferably without the support of friendly casters and in the limits of WBL.

So far I have:

boosting str,
magical enhancements on weapons,
flanking, tripping etc.

but they don't seem to do enough. I'm playing a lvl 5 warblade and my attack bonus with my primary weapon is only +9(17 str). I tend to miss a lot :smallfrown:

If your willing to dodge books you could buy a Continuous/Use Activated Item of True Strike. Never miss again!

It's low levels; you're supposed to miss a lot. Take a look at the "Rabid Wolf Strike" and "Emerald Razor" maneuvers for some help, though. And yeah, if you get to effective +15 from Trip + Flank, that tends to help. Charge works too.

There's ways like feats but most of them are inefficient (e.g. Weapon Focus) and the rest require a huge expediture or last only for one fight (Law Devotion is an example of the latter, Knowledge Devotion is an example of the former).


I'll have to say, your Strength is a bit before curve too; you could have +2 Str item by this level in most games. That's only +1 though but still relevant.

Well it looks like you dont have weapon focus, which most people think its not worth a feat, but I think that a warblade or figter with Weapon Focus/Weapon Specialisation/Melee Weapon Mastery is an excellent thing to head for by lvl 8-9. Its not overly optimised but a +3 atk and +4 dmg is nothing to sneeze at, even if it did got 3 feats.

Another excellent idea is to get a Martial Discipline Weapon as soon as possible. Pick your favouite stance and have the discipline it relates to on the weapon and you get a +3 atk. The warblade I had spent all day in punishing stance. +3 to atk and +1d6 dmg for -2 ac. Good trade in my eyes.
