Help with Japanese text

I recently managed to get a Japanese DS puzzle game for my DS. I'm a fan of logic puzzles, so when I saw the range of games that were released in Japan, but not North America, and since the games aren't region coded, I set about trying to get some. This one is Puzzle Series 4: Kakuro. I've managed to figure out most of what the buttons do, and I can play the game fine, but there is one option in the menu that I can't figure out what it does. So I looked around, found a ROM, took a screenshot, and cut out the word. I'm wondering if anyone here can translate it for me?

If it's a puzzle game, then that's the option where you can scribble down notes or diagrams, rather than the game displaying a Japanese memo.

Good point. For some reason I was assuming that it was going to be an RPG-like journal rather than a scratch pad.
