This is probably a silly question but does ammunition follow the same rule as weapons when enchanting them? As in does ammunition require a +1 before a special ability can be placed on it? Like I said, the answer is probably obvious but I just wanted to make sure.

Short answer: yes.

Long answer: Yes, but while the +X doesn't stack with that of the bow it is fired from, the abilities do stack. The ammunition is still destroyed afterwards though, so it is generally wiser to do the enchanting on the bow instead.

I disagree.

Usually, yes, enchanting your bow is wiser. However, at high levels, an effective archer has loaded up arrows for specific targets.

By 15th level, a batch of +1 bane arrows is a minor investment, but it grants a bonus to hit and reasonable bonus to damage.
