Hey, does anyone know where I can buy a power adapter for an Alienware m17x secondhand? I just got off the phone with tech support and it turns out they won't replace it even though I purchased the best warranty they had, making almost 20% of the cost. Needless to say, I refuse to allow them to ever touch a penny of my money again, and would like to buy a replacement used, so no money will go to that den of thieves and charlatans.

Sadly, the laptop repair part sites I use don't have one, though if you do find one, you may want to keep This page (http://www.laptoprepairparts.com/html/LRsearchmodelresults.asp?brand=alienware&model=m17x&txt=Area-51%20M17x) bookmarked.

A site I've never tried before seems to have It (http://ztronics.com/m17x-r1.html), though I'm not sure it's exactly the same model.

Good luck!

Edit: Perhaps this (http://www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=item&id=9188) is what you are looking for, where it's in stock?

I found a replacement available for 89 dollars, unfortunately it is brand new, but if they bought it from Dell and still sold at less than their normal price it should give them significantly less profit then buying from them directly.

I'm not bitter...

Buying second-hand would be a bad idea, IMHO, as would buying a third-party PSU. You've got a very expensive laptop attached to that PSU, you don't want it randomly sending high voltages into it!

As for Dell not replacing the PSU under warranty, I think you should call them again and get confirmation of that...we've had at least three Dell PSUs swapped out under warranty on our business laptops!
