As the title says I will explain more

I want to make an weapon that when unsheathed basically makes a fire shield and makes them rage, preferably like a barbarians first rage not like the spell, is this possible, if so the pricing for this item would be nice.

and continuous rage until re sheathed then he is fatigued and if he draws the sword again it won't work as a magic item just as a regular sword again if possible

So you're homebrewing this, or is it in a book already?

Oops. Re-read OP. IIRC there are rules for creating magic items in the back of the DMG. I dont have it handy right now so I'll get back to you... The spells you want though seem to be rage, wall of fire, and possibly permenancy. I'll check costs in the DMG though.

homebrewing it I think it would be neat to find in a chest, most of the spells are in books fire shield and rage

but if its possible to have a greater verison of the rage spell that causes fatigue would be good

Will it have any other bonuses?

no, none at all, it is masterwork though as it has to be

Sounds like a cursed item IMO more than a regular magic item. Also if you are DM just say "it is so." Anyone that sells such an awesome item should be shot.

Alternatively price it at ~12,000. That seems reasonable for a unlimited rage 1/day with fire shield. Instead of having the sword detect if fatigue make it once a day. Otherwise a couple low level easy to get wands can defeat that.

sounds good though you should never go with what is first said lets wait for others to say stuff

Is that a one-shot item? About 3,000 seems enough for that (with fire shield at minimum CL).

after sleeping I think I should make it a basically a sword of fire shield with a curse of rage on it pricing about 12,000 as someone else said

Using the pricing guidelines in the DMG, we can make ourselves this;

Greataxe of Fiery Wrath

This item appears to be a +3 greataxe covered all over in arabesques of swirling flame, dragons, mighty warriors, and battle. When drawn, it covers the user with a shroud of flame that damages all who strike him and burns those who he strikes. Those who strike the wielder of a Greataxe of Fiery Wrath with a melee attack take 1d6+7 points of fire damage. All cold damage against the wielder is halved. In addition, the wielder enters a mighty rage when the weapon is drawn that ends when the wielder sheathes the weapon. The wielder gains a +6 morale bonus to Strength and Constitution, and a +2 morale bonus on Will saves while the weapon is drawn. When the weapon is sheathed, the wielder becomes fatigued.

Moderate evocation; CL 7th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, greater rage, fire shield (hot); Price 83,160 gp.

18,000 +3 weapon, 50,400 on-use Fire Shield (CL 7xSpellLevel4x1800), 50,400 on-use Greater Rage (CL 7xSpellLevel4x1800), -30% fatigued after use = 83,160

Of course, if you want the BAD one, we end up with this;

Axe of Burning Resentment

This item appears to have the characteristics of a Greataxe of Fiery Wrath. However, whenever the sword is used in battle, its wielder goes berserk (gaining all the benefits and drawbacks of the barbarian’s greater rage ability). He attacks the nearest creature and continues to fight until unconscious or dead or until no living thing remains within 30 feet. Although many see this axe as a cursed object, others see it as a boon. In all other ways it is similar to a Greataxe of Fiery Wrath.

Moderate evocation; CL 7th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, greater rage, fire shield (hot), bestow curse; Price 47,480 gp.

Greater Rage:Greater Rage
Enchantment (Compulsion) [Mind-Affecting]
Level: Brd 3, Sor/Wiz 4
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level)
Targets: One willing living creature
Duration: Concentration + 1 round/level (D)
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: Yes

The affected creature gains a +6 morale bonus to Strength and Constitution, and a +2 morale bonus on Will saves. The effect is otherwise identical with a barbarian’s rage except that the subjects aren’t fatigued at the end of the rage.

If you want a more expensive one, you could use fires of purity (CDivine) as the base spell instead of fire shield, it's a 6th level spell that basically is a fire shield that does fire shield damage to things when you hit them.

Rather nice so now just change the greataxe name to a long sword and use that, thanks.

Oh hey, I totally misread what you were saying. You want something more like this.

Longsword of the Wrath-Fired Berserker

This item appears to be a +2 longsword covered all over in arabesques of swirling flame, dragons, mighty warriors, and battle. When drawn, it covers the user with a shroud of flame that damages all who strike him and burns those who he strikes. Those who strike the wielder of a Longsword of the Wrath-Fired Berserker with a melee attack take 1d6+7 points of fire damage. All cold damage against the wielder is halved. In addition, the wielder enters a mighty rage when the weapon is drawn that ends when the wielder sheathes the weapon. The wielder gains a +4 morale bonus to Strength and Constitution, and a +1 morale bonus on Will saves while the weapon is drawn. When the weapon is sheathed, the wielder becomes fatigued. Longsword of the Wrath-Fired Berserker may be drawn more than once in the course of a day, but after the first time acts only as a +2 longsword.

Moderate evocation; CL 7th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, medium rage, fire shield (hot); Price 67,680 gp.

Medium Rage:Medium Rage
Enchantment (Compulsion) [Mind-Affecting]
Level: Brd 2, Sor/Wiz 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level)
Targets: One willing living creature
Duration: Concentration + 1 round/level (D)
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: Yes

The affected creature gains a +4 morale bonus to Strength and Constitution, a +1 morale bonus on Will saves, and a -2 to AC. The effect is otherwise identical with a barbarian’s rage except that the subjects aren’t fatigued at the end of the rage.

Do you want it to last all day, i.e. they draw it when they roll out of bed in the morning and sheathe it when they go to sleep, or should it have some kind of time limit? A 7 minute time limit would make it a lot cheaper, since you could use the 1/day pricing instead of the on-use pricing.

Also, do you want good rage, or berserker rage that kills all your friends?

ohh okay yes , a limit and a good rage limited per day would be perfect, I don't want them using it all day just to not get fatigued

So you want it once per day? Alright. This is the version with only the barbarian's basic rage modifiers.. if you want it to be better than that, just say so. Also this is the version where you DON'T kill your friends.

In addition, the wielder enters a mighty rage when the weapon is drawn that ends when the wielder sheathes the weapon. The wielder gains a +4 morale bonus to Strength and Constitution, and a +1 morale bonus on Will saves while the weapon is drawn. These effects last for 7 minutes after the weapon is first drawn, or until it is sheathed. When the weapon is sheathed or the effect ends, the wielder becomes fatigued. Longsword of the Wrath-Fired Berserker may be drawn more than once in the course of a day, but after the first time acts only as a +2 longsword.

Moderate evocation; CL 7th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, medium rage, fire shield (hot); Price 18,452 gp.

8,000gp +2 weapon, 50,400/5=10,080 fire shield 1/day, 37800/5=7560 medium rage 1/day, -30% fatigued = 18,452gp

Note that the wielder doesn't get to choose when he uses it.. the first time he pulls it out, it goes whoosh, and then he's got 7 minutes, like it or not.
