Spell Archer
Prerequisites: Ability to cast 1st level arcane spells, 3 archery feats, 4 ranks of spellcraft

d6
Good Reflex & Will
-Concentration, Hide, Knowledge (Arcana/Geography/Nature/The Planes), Listen, Move Silently, Spellcraft, Spot, Survival.
4+Int
3/4 Bab
Gains no weapon or armor proficiencies.

1 - Combine touch spell with ranged attack. Can hold the charge on the arrow for as long as the spells duration.
2 - Combine target spell with ranged attack. Can combine a spell with a ranged attack as a full round action. Gain a level of spellcasting progression.
3 - Combine area/line spell with ranged attack. Can combine a spell with a ranged attack as a standard action.

The spell archers abilities can be used with any projectile weapon, but bows are the most common.

All spells combined with the ranged attack use the weapons range (they affect who the projectile hits or begin where it lands).

Touch spells include melee touch, ranged touch, and ray spells. At 3rd level, if you can fire more than one arrow as part of a standard action, you can split any damage dealing spells up amongst the arrows (for instance, you combine a shocking grasp spell with a stand action attack, the spell would normally do 5d6 damage, you can make one arrow do 3d6 and the other 2d6, or 4d6 and 1d6). Also, if you can cast a spell as a free action, you can combine it with a second attack if you have one, or as part of a full attack (if its a damage dealing spell, you can split up the damage from the spell amongst your attacks as you see fit).

Target spells include any single target target spell (such as hold person or power word kill).

If the area attack hits its target, that target automatically fails any reflex save. Others in the area roll as normal. If it touches the target but fails to do damage, the spell goes off as it otherwise would, but the target gets a save.
If the area is a line effect, it begins in the targets square (and continues in the direction the arrow had to travel to get to the target).
If you wish, you can limit the area spell to just the target struck by the arrow.

This does seem to take the most interesting parts of Arcane Archer and distil them down to a shorter PrC. Does it advance spellcasting? Also, "archery feat" is not strictly defined. You could make a list, or name Point Blank Shot and any feats that require it because most archery feats do.

Also,
{table="head"]Level|BAB|Fort|Ref|Will|Special

1st|+0|+0|+2|+2|Touch Spell on Ranged Attack

2nd|+1|+0|+3|+3|Ranged Spell on Ranged Attack

3rd|+2|+1|+3|+3|Area Spell on Ranged Attack

[/table]

The abilities could use snappier names. I use this site (http://pifro.com/) to make tables.

They gain a level of spellcasting progression at 2nd.

And yes, the point blank shot tree, but also weapon focus in the projectile weapon used. I'd be open to other archery related feats, but lets stick to core for now.

(thanks for the tip)
