Basically, what it says on the tin. I am building a sword and board (well, technically, warhammer and board) Crusader, and, after he was basically complete, the DM suddenly decided to go pathfinder instead of basic 3.5. :smallfurious: I don't have any particular issue with Pathfinder, in fact after picking up the 3.5 core PDF, it actually seems to improve on 3.5 in several areas, but I am pretty new at it, and having trouble wrapping my head around the new Pathfinder feats. The GM is fairly open to importing 3.5 feats in, as long there is no Pathfinder feat of similar name and/or effect replacing it.

So, what Pathfinder feats would be good for a defensive Crusader to pick? I am looking to try to expand my shield AC to other areas (such as 3.5 Shield Ward) and maybe bash opponents with my shield for extra effect (such as 3.5 shield charge and shield slam). I have only been working from the core PF book and from the SRD, but the GM has bascially every PF book in creation so there is no real limit on sources.

The Pathfinder version Shield slam looks decent, but I don’t like the two-weapon prerequisite, and using it as an entry to shield master seems less than useful for a class like crusader, low on boosts but high on strikes. I don’t have the dex (and don’t like the 1/day limit anyway) for missile shield and ray shield (from the Pathfinder SRD), and I honestly don’t see much else for shield feats that jump out as worthwhile. So in short I could really use the advice from PF experienced playgrounders on shield feats, and would appreciate any ideas I can get!

There are a few threads on this board that have some good advice for shield users, but it all depends on what you want to do. I played a fighter a while back that made good use of the Step Up and Mage Slayer line to shut down mage types.
Edit:
Person_Man's Shield Guide (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=123630) for all your 3.X shield needs, may have some good ideas for PF.

Crusader? As in the ToB crusader? The one that's not in Pathfinder? Is the DM going to allow that?

Don't forget that if you're going PF then you get a feat at every other level instead of every third level. This means that while taking TWF isn't great, it's not as game breaking as it could be.

I've been thinking about making a sword n board character myself so I'll look for some good feats and edit them in later.

Find out if Fast Healer (http://www.pathfindersrd.com/feats/general-feats/fast-healer) and Fey Foundling (http://www.pathfindersrd.com/feats/general-feats/fey-foundling) apply to Crusader maneuvers and stances. If they do, take both and profit.

First off, yes, it is the ToB Crusader, which my DM has generously converted to Pathfinder.

Wow, saw fast healer and skipped over it because I did not see the "magic healing" clause. That is awesome, I will ask the DM! :smallcool:
