In Pathfinder Sword/Board seems viable, I have a player asking what a heavy shield is treated as weapon wise when using TWF, say the player uses a longsword in the dominant hand and a heavy shield in his OH, whats the shield treated as? medium/light?

Heavy shields have their own entry in the weapons table.

Have shield master and you wield two shields it won't even matter. You take no penalties for two weapon fighting with that feat. By the way that includes the penalty from imp two weapon fighting and greater two weapon fighting so you get all those attacks at full BAB.

Unless they changed it light shields are light like a shortsword, heavy shields would be like wielding a longsword. This is using the standard 3.5 rules though.
