Is there a spell allowing one to animate an object to turn it into a construct under your command? If so, could someone please point me to the book and pg. number?
(1st question was sort of rhetorical, I'm sure it exists.)

Ah. I was looking on the Sorcerer/Wizard list. Strange, as it seems more Arcane than Divine to me.
However, that wasn't really what I was looking for. What I was thinking of was more creating constructs that are fully under your control, a la create undead.

Life-giving stuffs are the domain of the divine. (and artificer perhaps)

You can permanency it to make a lasting construct. The only other method that I'm aware of creating construct is item creation feats (create golem or create homunculus)

I like this spell (http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Ell%27s_Handy_Homunculus_(3.5e_Spell)), but I'm not sure it's what your looking for.

Might help though. Also if it doesn't help, I'll probably try to homebrew a spell to fit your needs.

In Dungeon Magazine #312 on page 32 you have the Fleshcrafter. It is a necromancer but instead raising undead they use the dead for parts in their constructs. The class is fun to play, and there is a guide on constructs that you could make. Pre level 8 are mostly going to be a varity of constructs with level 8 and beyond primarily golems. The Clockwork constructs in MM4 and Iron Defender from Eberron are some good ones.
