Is Hide the skill used for concealing say, a doorway or hidden passage? What are the rules for this?

I can't direct you to a page number, but if it were me.

I would make it either a disguise or hide check, depending on the nature of the concealment.

Not a rule but just rambling: What are you trying to do?

To make the door disapear as if meld into the wall? Then it is a Hide since the characters/monsters should not notice it.

If you want the door to look like sth else (for example as if a painting or statue/sculpted of stone) then it would be Disguise. The characters will notice it but without noticing the difference, it could be ignored.

Hide is for yourself only. That it relies on your dexterity indicates it's about personal ability, in addition to the description of the skill itself.

For hiding a semipermanent object like a door, Craft would be the best fit; note that what you want comes very close to the rules for making traps. You don't need all the associated violent moving bits, of course, so a broader category - say, Craft: architecture or such, should easily be justified.

Nope, that's unrelated. More likely some kind of craft check. And even then it'd be the DC to make the thing, whereas the search DC is pretty much fixed regardless of your check.

Here's a little more information:

Secret Doors
Disguised as a bare patch of wall (or floor, or ceiling), a bookcase, a fireplace, or a fountain, a secret door leads to a secret passage or room. Someone examining the area finds a secret door, if one exists, on a successful Search check (DC 20 for a typical secret door to DC 30 for a well-hidden secret door). Elves have a chance to detect a secret door just by casually looking at an area.

Many secret doors require a special method of opening, such as a hidden button or pressure plate. Secret doors can open like normal doors, or they may pivot, slide, sink, rise, or even lower like a drawbridge to permit access. Builders might put a secret door down low near the floor or high up in a wall, making it difficult to find or reach. Wizards and sorcerers have a spell, phase door, that allows them to create a magic secret door that only they can use.

As they can be made out of anything there isn't any hard and fast way to do it.

Check out the Hide skill use here (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/skills.htm#hide). If you can Hide another creature (they don't make any skill check), why can't you hide an object of the same size?

Probably because there's no way to put the door in a concealed location without leaving a doorway. You need to dip shadowdancer first so you can meld the door into the shadows :smalltongue:.

I like this line of thinking.

Basically I'm trying to find if there's rules for when a character wants to hide a doorway from company that came over. Hiding others, hiding objects on your person... Might have to fiat it. Hide with a penalty or a disguise check seem like the easiest way to go.

The trap crafting rules don't care about hide skill when you're creating traps... the DC to craft them just goes up based on how hard you want them to be to notice. But you can hide your tent with the hide skill (see Elven Tree Tents), and you can hide objects on your person with Sleight of Hand (see Daggers) so it's not terribly consistent.

No real rules for visiting company and regular doors. Just slide a bookcase in front of the door, lean against the bookcase, and whistle nonchalantly.
