Two weeks of game time, the PCs slaughtered a hill giant fort full of giants. They killed almost all the men folk, most of the kids, several females, the Stone Giant diplomats, the Cloud Giant diplomat, as well unearthing a temple of Kyuss buried below. They suffered 50% casualties vs. the temple guardian, so they retreated to town. All the orc slaves escaped when they started assaulting/invading the fort.
What has happened in the interim? They never found the treasury, and several hill giants escaped, including one with class levels (a ranger).
When they left the fort, they left all the corpses there. There were dozens. The giant fort was in the mountains.
Currently, Lolth is stealing a city with a giant bubble, and it's attracting monsters from all over. The hill giants were in cahoots with a frost giant jarl and a fire giant place.
