I'm sorry I have to ask this again, but my Internet won't let me search the Playground right now and I don't know why. How do you post a link to a specific post? I'm actually doing homebrew things right now, and would like to organize this better.

Clicking the little number in the top right of a post gives you a specific post as a separate page.

eg. your post (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11236748&postcount=1)

Is that what you were after?

Thank you. I can't believe I'm that huge of a derp.

If you want to link in a way that will lead to the post but not isolate it from the rest of the thread, do the same thing but then click on the thread's name above the number after you do. Like so (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=11236948#post11236948).

And finally, for a version that's shorter to write, you can get the post number by quoting it or looking at the link or whatever and enclose it in tags, so doing that for the post I'm quoting here (whatever) gives this.

Likewise, you can link to a thread by using the thread number and thread tags. For example, this gives this this.

Mind = blown by you peoples' black magic.

I think you mean blue magic, maybe red magic...:smallwink:

That said, I suspect the question has now been answered (unless someone knows any more creative ways to link posts)

Don't worry, there are plenty of us who are in that boat with you. Thanks for asking so I didn't have to :smallwink:

Well the two URLs are
http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php
http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php

Stick ?t=XXXXXX on the end for a topic, or ?p=XXXXXX for a post.

In other words, get the "link to post" URL and change "post" to "thread". The extra parameters (using & instead of ?) aren't necessary and can be trimmed.
