So with this weekend's session canceled due to lack of attendance, I have little to do this week in regards to preparation and have decided to work on modulizing the campaign so far, so I can use it again in the future.

Big catch, though, is that I've never so much as looked at a module before and have no idea how to make one. So, my question to the Playground is: "do any premade modules exist online that I can use as a basis of organization?"

For a start, have a look at these: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/oa/20030530b

Essentially, you need to explain the plot, what NPCs will do in different situations, and present the important stats for NPCs and the environment, any significant DCs, explanations of any important rules that you'll use for the adventure or a page reference to where you'll find them. A bunch of descriptive text will be useful.

Awesome, thanks. Bookmarked the page for future reference.

Is there a free map making program floating around anywhere that I can use to make maps around the same quality as those you see in these modules?

Check out MapTools. It's pretty sweet.

This is amazing.

Now I just need to figure out how it works...

It took me a while to get the hang of MapTools I'll admit, but once I found a library of decent textures online and started forcing myself to play with it, most of the basic stuff falls into place.

There's a Wizards mapmaking tool on their site somewhere too, but it's pretty buggy and no where near the quality of MapTools. I really wouldn't bother with it.
