What's In A Name? III - Stargazer
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v216/FaxCelestis/Steampunk_Girl_by_ZoeStead.png

The contest begins with the posting of this thread and will continue until the 20th of July. Soon after, a poll will be opened for everyone to vote for their favorite that will last for a week.

Rules
1. You will be creating an original d20r prestige class based around a name/idea: in this case, the "Stargazer" or "astrologer". What exactly a Stargazer is is up to you, but it must follow d20r rules. Some quick notes are attached at the bottom that delineate the differences between a 3.5 PrC and a d20r PrC. This contest has an additional suggestion: make use of the horoscopes and calendar found here. (http://wiki.faxcelestis.net/index.php?title=d20r:Calendar)

2. Entries must include name, complete class, and fluff, combat related and role playing related. Incomplete entries at the deadline will be disqualified.

3. Entries must be d20r system, using the standard format below.

4. Post all entries on this thread. Do not post conversation here. Any and all comments and discussions will take place on a separate thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=10471398#post10471398).

5. One entry per participant. No double-teaming.

6. Entries copied from some other source (splatbook, alternate website, etc) will be disqualified. All entries must be a new creation, not one already posted. Converting an existing homebrew (not an existing publication) to d20r format is acceptable.

7. No reserving posts. Feel free to post a framework and tweak it, but you have to have the basic entry already done.

8. Please state if you do not want critiques: otherwise other participants will likely give a rundown of your build in the chat thread.

9. Your material must stay within the bounds of the OGL. You may reference any material that is presented in the SRD or in d20r's forum (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewforum.php?f=2).

d20r System Notes
General System Changes: There is a listing here (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=256) of the system changes. Some of them are delineated below for quick reference.
Prowess: Primarily combative classes (like the warlord) receive 6 prowess per level. Secondarily combative classes (like the rogue) receive 4 prowess per level. Primarily casting classes receive 2 prowess per level. Prowess is used to improve combat-related feats (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=122). The cap for prowess invested into an investing feat is your BAB +3. The cap for prowess invested into a style feat is your BAB*6.
Spellcasting: 3.5 wizard-style prepared spellcasting is gone. "Prepared" casting classes will use a system like the d20r paladin (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=198)'s spellcasting.
Ability Keywords: Class features now have ability keywords, such as [Aura] (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=116), [Arcane] (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=259), or [Lore] (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=118). Prestige classes can improve features with the correct keyword in the same fashion that 3.5 spellcasting-improving classes did.
The Progressing Keyword: [Progressing] is a special keyword that interacts with favored class, multiclass feats, and prestige class progressions. Class features with the [Progressing] keyword are the ones that are advanced by prestige classes with "+1 level of existing X feature". For instance, a class that gives "+1 level of existing Aura feature" advances a base class' [Aura, Progressing] class feature, but not a base class' [Aura] feature.
Skills: Skill lists are not a specific list per class: instead, classes receive training in between one and four skill sets. More about the skill system can be seen here (http://wiki.faxcelestis.net/index.php?title=D20r:Skills).
Proficiencies: Weapon proficiencies use a variant of Unearthed Arcana's weapon group system, which you can see a breakdown of here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=161515). Armor proficiencies are unchanged.
Available classes to work with at this time: Symbol (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=259), Engineer (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=258), Luckthief (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=131), Rogue (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=16), Dreadnaught (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=70), Cleric (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=71), Trapper (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=193) (not mine), Warlord (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=116), Paladin (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=198), Soulknife (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=120), Savant (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=118), Monk (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=114), Fencer (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=115), Ranger (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=68), Hunter (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=32), Medium (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=31), Druid (http://forum.faxcelestis.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15). There's also the unfinished frameworks for the Sorcerer (http://wiki.faxcelestis.net/index.php?title=D20r:Sorcerer) and Wizard (http://wiki.faxcelestis.net/index.php?title=D20r:Wizard), and Psion (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/classes/psion.htm) and Psychic Warrior (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/classes/psychicWarrior.htm) are going to be pretty much as-is.

The Prize
The winning prestige class (any any class I feel to be of high enough quality, with the author's permission) will be included in the final version of d20r as an available prestige class, and your name will be included in the credits in the final product.

Disclaimer: (in full-size font because I am not a douche) I reserve the right to edit or alter the winning prestige class, whether it be for balance, system changes, or otherwise. However, I will make every effort to keep the final product as true to the original as possible. The winning prestige class (and any that I select for being exceptional) remain the property of their creators, but allow specifically for me to edit them as required to make them feasibly includeable into the final d20r product.

Fateweaver

http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i256/pepo65/EtcGraphics1/fate.jpg

The stars form a tome that describes the events of all times. I can revise this text.

Fateweavers know the inherent power of the stars, and the way they describe events of ages past, of the now, and of the future yet to unfold. They have studied the workings of Fate intensively, and have learned how to make minute changes in the weave of stars that bring fate, thereby making changes upon the way things unfold upon Earth. They are capable of bringing both blessings and curses upon those whose lives they touch.

The Zodiac

http://images2.layoutsparks.com/1/129468/moon-full-warrior-cartoon.jpg
An Elmoon-aspected Zodiac harnesses the power of the moon

We draw our seasons from what we experience. The heat of summer, the death of autumn, the chill of winter and the rebirth of spring. But these seasons, they have a deeper meaning; a meaning which is sourced in the cosmos.
-The Book of Zodiac

Legends tell of a mythic book. A book which describes the powers that fuel the turning of the seasons. It explains that the sun and the moon are the source of the change that drives the world. That their powers can be harnessed, too, to emulate the powers of the seasons. The book is known as the Book of Zodiac, and it exists in an unknown number of copies. Each copy shares one similarity; they teach the reader as they are read. Some magical enchantments that lies in the words forces understanding on a worthy pupil. When a book of zodiac has completed its instruction, it infuses the student with one of four aspects; Soliel, Elmoon, Sunfall or Lunesway. A Zodiac is born.
Zodiacs are defined by their aspect. Contrary to appearances, Zodiacs are not scholars; most are actually warriors of blade or bow. But their techniques are aspected by the teachings of the book forever; they become refined machines of war, fueled by the push and pull of the moon and the searing heat and light of the sun. Warriors of the cosmos, united only in the source of their power. The Book of Zodiac's first words most aptly describe its graduated pupils; "This book shall teach you to harness the power of sun and moon to lay waste to your foes. What you do with that power and which foes you make are up to you, but know this; for good or ill, a Zodiac never backs down, for the universe itself is always on their side."

Becoming A Zodiac
Becoming a Zodiac requires first and foremost that one is taught by the Book of Zodiac. Beyond that, Zodiacs require basic martial proficiency at the very least, though the more skilled they are with weapons, the better.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Skills: Nature (Journeyman) OR The Planes (Journeyman)
Base Attack Bonus: +5
Special: You must read an entire Book of Zodiac. The book cannot be read for more than one hour each day, and it must be read manually. The Book of Zodiac takes approximately twenty hours to read fully.

Zodiac Class Features
Skills: The Zodiac gains Knowledge (The Planes) and Knowledge (Nature).
Prowess: A Zodiac gains 6 points of prowess per level.
Hit Dice: d8

Proficiencies: A Zodiac gains one additional weapon group of their choice.

Aspect (Ex) [Lore]
Upon entering the prestige class, a new Zodiac chooses one of the following aspects: Soliel, Elmoon, Sunfall or Lunesway.

Soliel:
Your weapon attacks deal an additional 1d6 fire damage. Increase this to 2d6 fire damage at the third level of this class, and to 3d6 fire damage at the fifth level. You gain resistance to fire damage equal to five times your Zodiac class levels. You gain a +2 bonus to Diplomacy and Athletics checks.

Elmoon:
Your weapon attacks deal an additional 1d6 negative energy damage. Increase this to 2d6 negative energy damage at the third level of this class, and to 3d6 negative energy damage at the fifth level. You gain resistance to negative energy damage equal to five times your Zodiac class levels. You gain a +2 bonus to Grapple and Disable Device checks.

Sunfall:
Your weapon attacks deal an additional 1d6 cold damage. Increase this to 2d6 cold damage at the third level of this class, and to 3d6 cold damage at the fifth level. You gain resistance to cold damage equal to five times your Zodiac class levels. You gain a +2 bonus to Survival and Stealth checks.

Lunesway:
When you hit with a weapon attack, you regain 1d4 hitpoints. Increase this to 2d4 hitpoints at the third level of this class, and to 3d4 hitpoints at the fifth level. Whenever you would cause a creature to regain hitpoints, increase the hitpoints gained by your Zodiac class levels. You gain a +2 bonus to Initiative and Handle Animal checks.

Sign of the Zodiac [Lore]
The Zodiac gains a Sign of the Zodiac from his Aspect. He gains additional Signs of the Zodiac at second and fourth level, plus a Sign from a different Aspect at third level (see Dual Aspect). Each Sign that a Zodiac knows can be invoked once per encounter, or once every five minutes while out of combat.

Dual Aspect [Lore]
Choose another of the four aspects. You gain the benefits of that Aspect, except your Zodiac levels are considered two lower for the purposes of calculating the Aspect's benefits. You also gain a Sign of the Zodiac associated with that Aspect.

Avatar [Lore]
You become the embodiment of your Aspect. Select one of your ability scores. You gain a +2 permanent bonus to that ability. You gain additional benefits based on your original aspect chosen at first level.

Signs of the Zodiac:
Soliel:
Sakat (Arms of the Kraken): This Sign requires a full-round action to invoke. Make two attacks with your weapon for each Zodiac level you have or a number of attacks equal to one plus your base attack bonus divided by five, whichever is greater. No more than two attacks can be made against the same creature. You may take a 5' step after each attack, if you so choose.

Agni (Magmic Blast): This Sign is invoked as a free action when you hit with a weapon attack. The target takes an additional 4d6 fire damage for each Zodiac level you have. The target can make a reflex save to halve the damage; the save DC is equal to 10 + your Zodiac level + your highest ability modifier. You can also push the target up to 15' and knock them prone if they fail their reflex save.

Anandja (Joyful Infusion): This Sign is invoked as a swift action. You and all allies within 30' of you regain 2d8 hitpoints for each Zodiac level you have, up to a maximum of 8d8 hitpoints.

Alejia (Maddening Blow): This Sign is invoked as a standard action. Make a touch attack against an adjacent creature with a weapon you are wielding. On a hit, in addition to dealing damage, the target is force to make a Will save or be cowered. The target can make a new Will save at the start of each turn, and remains cowered until its Will save is successful; the save DC is equal to 10 + your Zodiac level + your highest ability modifier
