I was wandering Google, and I stumbled upon Zombie d6 lite. The entirety of its rules is on one page, and is easily memorizable. So I got to wondering if there was anything else like it. So I'm compiling a list of games like it. I'm defining eligible candidates as 1: short. About 1-2 pages in length. 2: easily memorizable. I think all of them will be free. My google-fu is weak, however, and I can't find anything other than Zd6L and 6x.

Edit: Just as a note, I'll only post by updating this, here. I'm a wee bit tired as I type this, so I might remove some tomorrow.

Edit 2: I can't find The Pool free. Sorry. my computer's freaking out on me and won't download Risus right now.

Edit 3: Triple hyphens indicate the end of a day, so I can figure out my average additions per day. Unless otherwise noted, all of these may be found online, free, with no download.

Edit 4: Woohoo! I found The Pool! Lacuna costs money, however, so I can't get it.

Edit 5: The first part of edit 1 is a lie.

Wushu (http://wiki.saberpunk.net/Wushu/WushuOpenRules) Right before I added this, I watched the movie Bulletproof Monk. This may or may not have something to do with it. Wushu has an unofficial expansion: Reloaded (http://www.story-games.at/wushu/open_reloaded.pdf)

There's a number of 1PG games. The Pool I think is 2 pages. There's also a one-page version of BRP.

Other tiny games (but more than 2 pages): Wushu, Risus, There Is No Spoon, InSpectres. They're all free.

Do: Pilgrims of the Flying Temple (http://danielsolisblog.blogspot.com/2007/08/do-pilgrims-of-flying-temple.html)'s entire ruleset is on the linked page. It is also awesome. It's about world-hopping airbenders.

Toward One (http://lumpley.com/towardone.html) also has its entire ruleset on the page from this link. Its about middle eastern courtiers that bind Jinn and attempt screw each other over and curry favor with their ruler.

And now for the system I always mention in such threads...The Window! (http://www.mimgames.com/window/)

They take more than a page to explain it, but it really could be summed up in a few sentences if necessary.

Microlite 20 (http://www.microlite20.net/) is the smallest d20 system I've ever seen. And probably the only system that light that wouldnt get boring after awhile, and it definitely hits home for most d&d players.

I'm a fan of the Wuthering Heights (http://www.unseelie.org/rpg/wh/index.html) system, though I have only used it for one shots. If you're good at tracking social standing and such you could make a campaign out of it... it's rather unsuited for dungeon crawling (though that could be a funny one shot).

RISUS. (http://www222.pair.com/sjohn/risus.htm) It's die pool. You have ten character points to divide among any number of cliches, rated 1-4. Cliches can be anything. It's basically TVTropes the RPG.

I made a cheat sheet for Lacuna the players to read and it all fit onto one sheet.

Well I lie really. I made a cheat sheet for the players but ended up crossing most of it out with a big black marker. They need a promotion to Deep Blue level clearance to get most of that information!

Lacuna is a game that does games similar to Inception. It's very similar in concept. Surprising how close it is seeing is it came out way before the movie.

And still I have no clue what the rules are. Care to explain or point to somewhere else that explains the rules of do.

Microscope (http://www.lamemage.com/) is very rules lite, but is both $10 and about building histories than playing single characters.

EDIT: And manages to fill an 81-page rulebook despite the rules summary being one.

Scroll down to where the pictures of the little black and white stones are.

What, specifically, are you confused about? I dunno how I could summarize the rules when they're already small enough to fit on just the one page.

Everyone makes a pilgrim (there's no GM), the randomization mechanic is a bag of black and white stones (or whatever substitute your gaming group would prefer), what you draw from the bag on your turn determines the flow of the story, and depending on the result, you have to use either your Avatar or Banner in the situation. When you use up all the Goal Words in that session's Letter, you get either Parades or Pitchforks, and that session is over.

Perhaps I'm misreading but I'm missing the point. The game rules are set-up like you could make tactical choices so that your pilgrim 'wins' and another 'loses' but as far as I understand it it makes no difference in the end.

Am I missing something?

Am I missing something?
Probably? This isn't a tactical game. It's not a game of challenge or intrigue. It's an ultra-lite GMless roleplaying game with a couple interesting gimmicks. It's not the kind of game you use for a campaign - it's the kind of game you pull out when the group goes out to a diner after your session of Burning Wheel, you spend about 45 seconds on character creation, and you pull sugar packets out of someone's dice bag while you sit around telling a silly story about this one time when Darth Vader hired a bunch of extradimensional airbenders to wipe out the Rebel Alliance, hilarity ensued, and then they got chased out of town by a bunch of angry wookies on psychotropic drugs.

Sounds like an anecdote!

Have you looked through 1km1kt.net (http://www.1km1kt.net/cat/rpg)? It has a huge stockpile of games that basically fit this model. Some are kind of neat. Most go over 1-2 pages, but they can usually be read in 10-15 minutes.

I remember Badass Presidents (http://www.1km1kt.net/rpg/badass-presidents), 44 (http://www.1km1kt.net/rpg/44-a-game-of-automatic-fear), A Fistful of Darkness (http://www.1km1kt.net/rpg/a-fistful-of-darkness) and vs. Monsters (http://www.1km1kt.net/rpg/vs-monsters) looking especially neat. There's also the original version of 3:16 (http://www.1km1kt.net/rpg/316), which is probably worth checking out; its final printing is very slick, at least.

Until We Sink (http://norwegianstyle.wordpress.com/2007/12/07/37/) is also pretty nifty.

EDIT: It's not the most roleplaying rpg, but Sea Dracula (http://seadracula.wordpress.com/) is probably the most fun game there is. It definitely fits all your criteria.

EDIT: Also Awesome! (http://www.1km1kt.net/rpg/awesome) is, well, you know...

EDIT: I get the feeling I'm going to keep remembering more and more of these. I'm just going to make myself stop here.

EDIT: I can't help it. Dungeon World (http://www.latorra.org/dungeon-world/) is too fun, short and free of a game to neglect and Warrior Rogue and Mage (http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product_info.php?products_id=82643&affiliate_id=5405) is a bit longer than you want, but the gist is basically in the first 3 pages. Those are typically the systems I use for D&D nowadays, even with longer and more expensive alternatives available.

Oh, you're good.

And yes, we used the little blue and pink fake sugar packets on the table as White/Black stones. One of our Pilgrims had the power of Extraordinary Hippieism as his Banner. In hindsight, the plot was on a horrific death spiral from that moment in character creation. It was like a trainwreck; the horror! but...you just can't look away. :smallamused:
