2 questions:

I've been persuaded into DMing a game for a group of friends who, most of which, have never played D&D before. I expect this only to last for a single sitting, so I want to make (or find) a memorable campaign to run. I don't want to make it too cliched, but at the same time I want to use some iconic monsters.

Are there any good premade adventures, or do you have a good idea for a plot to use? I'm planning on around 3rd level.

I will be making a bunch of characters beforehand that the players can pick from and play, since they expressed that they did not want to make their own. I did get an idea of what everyone wanted to play however: a rogue, 2 hit stuff guys, a druid, a caster, and a "no idea".

So my question is, are there any non-core classes you think I should use? I normally don't use ToB, ToM, Psionics, or Incarnate. I plan on slightly optimizing the characters, but nothing extreme.
