So I just finished up a new map for the world our group created using the Dawn of Worlds ruleset. I thought I'd post it here in case someone wanted to use it.

A few notes;

The new map is a lot more neutral than the last one (though not entirely so) to allow us to populate the world on the fly more than the previous one where certain areas had "Beware Hags!" and "Trolls here!" labels.

Also, I used a nice gel pen on this one, which as it turns out sucks. You lose a lot of detail and shading ability with the gel over something like a cheapo bic pen. I've posted the old one as a comparison. I'm sad at the low quality of the new map as a result of the pen type. :( It's also much smaller, but better suited to what we're doing right now.

Wow. You're . . . rather better at this than I am. How long does one of these take you, if I might ask?

Kua Matuul DOES seem wonderful:smallbiggrin:

My favorite part of the old map is the cloud blowing wind, but the new map doesn't have that. :smallfrown:

Otherwise I think it's really good!

Quite a bit more detailed than my maps and perhaps more readable due to not using pencil. Pretty huge though.

It takes about 3 hours to do one (letter sized) page, if I don't bother with a rough draft. More if I plan out what I want as for landmarks and stuff before doing topography.

Need to learn some image optimization. No reason on earth for that picture to be over a meg...

What do all those blue lines criss-crossing your world represent? Magical leylines?

:smalltongue:

In all seriousness, excellent job. Your lettering, especially, is much better than mine.

That's pretty boss, Crow. I do all my map-making in photoshop and illustrator these days, but they've definitely lost a lot of the feel of wonder and magic that a hand-done gridline map like yours above have. I'd love to play in that world!
