i got curious recently and started thinking about things like this, if you were, say, the star of a TV show or something and music played whenever you are doing something, or whenever you feel happy etc, what would you choose? music from songs, games, musicals anything.

i can see it being taken a couple of ways, but primarily im looking for "what song encompasses XXXXXX for you" like, what song would represent a tragic moment in your life? or the happiest moment? or just what represents that feeling or happening in general? or you could go down the road of imagining your life in a movie and picking tunes to certain scenes too, thats a close enough approximation.

what would be your Themetune in general?
what would be your "happy" or excited or the "things are going your way" sort of sound track?
what would be your "sad" or feeling down soundtrack
what would be your soundtrack be to being at work/school
what would be your soundtrack for just being plain old bored.

if you can think of more, throw them in. from "feeling evil" to "falling in love" anything you can think of and are happy to tell us.

This must be the 'sad' soundtrack. More later...

Hmm, let's take a look...

Fast Cars (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLbcxcVcZks), by Aesop Rock, for the platonic ideal Moff, I guess. I don't feel like I've earned this as a themesong, but it's what I aspire to. :smalltongue:
A lotta stuff by Queens of the Stone Age feels appropriate. Go With the Flow (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iw1Fm61HBA8), Misfit Love (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylxT7bQ0AmA&feature=related), and Into the Hollow (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XeiAoXw_An0) sound about right.

what would be your Themetune in general? It has, for a very long time, been Blind Melon's No Rain (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qVPNONdF58)
what would be your "happy" or excited or the "things are going your way" sort of sound track? Rob Zombie's Living Dead Girl (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvsMPOfblfg). Don't judge me :smalltongue:
what would be your "sad" or feeling down soundtrack Bon Iver's Roslyn (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gH3XxMMxKf0)
what would be your soundtrack be to being at work/school: Blue October and Adele. All of it. Because that's all my Pharmacist plays when working. In specific, though Blue October's Into the Ocean (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZES3nJQYJok) and Adele's Rumour Has It (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ti3t7MAwaaM)
what would be your soundtrack for just being plain old bored. Tom Petty and the Heart Breaker's Mary Jane's Last Dance (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aowSGxim_O8)
Also, I have a song specifically for my angry rages, courtesy of Uncle Ghost. Splash Down's Iron Spy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0e223ADJAJE)

This is just a small list of the ones that I can think of off my head. I tend to come of up with most of the songs I listen to while I'm in the mood to listen to them. Also, some of them may seem a little strange (especially the school ones), this is usually due to some strange connection, which I'll explain in a spoiler if you really feel like getting into my subconscious.

what would be your Themetune in general?
Incubus - Drive (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgT9zGkiLig). Not because I feel that I actually live that way, but because it the song that best expresses what I am striving for with my life.

what would be your "happy" or excited or the "things are going your way" sort of sound track?
Incubus - Anna Molly (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WA_xjBaXor0), Red Hot Chili Peppers - Can't Stop (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfOdWSiyWoc), and Red Hot Chili Peppers - By the Way (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnfyjwChuNU)
These three are mainly my happy songs because they're some of my favorite fast beat songs, rather than being about happy subjects or something similar

what would be your "sad" or feeling down soundtrack
Nickelback - Photograph (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BB0DU4DoPP4), and Audioslave - Doesn't Remind Me (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBFdX37Qpnk)
Pretty much any song that brings up old memories (I've moved alot, and lost touch with most of my old friends/places, so any memories from more than... 5ish years ago are usually sad for me), as such, there are WAY to many to list. The two above are two of my favorites

what would be your soundtrack be to being at work/school
Staind - Mudshovel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuAC9YIC2Bs), Incubus - Drive ([URL="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgT9zGkiLig)"], Fuel - Shimmer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0QMfK9hzgA)
These three are probably my favorite of the songs I play at school. Typically it's a song I know part of, or all of, so that my I can loose myself in the notes and whatnot when I walk across campus, which is usually pretty boring.

what would be your soundtrack for just being plain old bored
Green Day - Longview (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vy5XR-oxCus)
The song is all about being bored, and is one of the first Green Day songs I listened too, so this one actually makes sense amazingly.

Other soundtracks:
Chill soundtrack: Sublime - Santaria (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEYN5w4T_aM)
Really, pretty much any reggae or ska can go here, Santaria is just my favorite.

Angry: Three Days Grace - Animal I have Become (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wE0-_2n1Vh8)
Describes the way I usually feel about myself when I'm angry. Actually, seems like most of Three Days Grace's angry songs do...

Love: Incubus - Stellar (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nqRkAsZumc), or Three Days Grace - Lost In You (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zRSSfw97XY)
Two of my favorite love songs/songs about love, by two of my favorite bands.

Im loving the responses so far, ive listened to every one, @Rabbit, loving the living dead girl, GO ROB ZOMBIE!

I suppose i should explain why im interested a little, mainly i like music with feelings within the music and i did 2 years of my Music class project based off of just that thing, well, that and a certain composer called Nobuo Uematsu cus im sad like that:smalltongue:

it also intrigues me how people see themselves, and sometimes your "themetune" has reasons like, your outlook on life and such, and i find that interesting, also its only fair i give a couple i suppose

The themetune i strive for but likely will never deserve: One winged angel (ACC version) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MQ6Nn_6tdY) by... Nobuo Uematsu

the themetune i would like to think is my themetune: Feuer Frei - Rammstein (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aw0LTWzrtjk)

what is proberbly nearer my actual life attitude and thus themetune: 大橋卓弥 / ありがとう (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEZQ_IwvK2M) which is "thank you" by Takuya Ohashi (i believe i spelled it right)

as you can see, i strive for cool, and dramatic, but end up being near kind, layed back and thankful for what i have... ah well.

also just noticed not a one of them are in English

for happy songs: ive got Wenches and Mead - Alestorm (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-8Uo1j0AiA&feature=related) YARRR pirate metal! Dont stop me now - Queen (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgzGwKwLmgM) Admittedly almost anything from queen fits in this catagory.

sad songs: Great warrior (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrI8bHs6Qvk) Nobuo again, FF7 again:smallredface: although, i feel this is a sad song filled with hope. maybe i feel too much from music?:smallconfused: Also Inside - Stilskin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuTVKO0RScI) Creep - Radiohead (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFkzRNyygfk&feature=related) another sad, but hopeful one.

bored songs: Fire coming out of the monkey's head - gorillaz (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKM9Iz89CyQ)

currently i dont have one for work... not really been working long enough. im sure that will change soon enough

hoplessness/heartbreak: Snuff - Slipknot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpopqtiTpdU) and im not a big slipknot fan, but i like this one.

when i feel like im going insane(which is more often than it should be): Sweating bullets - MegaDeth (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOnKCcjP8Qs)

Fired up angry songs: Proven - Hatebreed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qy-ks58vpt0) Biotech is Godzilla - Sepultura (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuZJjx2poyA)

and a "i feel awesome" song: Ich Tu dir Weh - Rammstein (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aU1wLryjuEw) infact that was going to be my theme tune instead of of feuer frei, mainly due to the feeling as opposed to the meaning, but i felt it would make people think im a sick individual if they speak german, so i swapped it for feuer frei instead  also, i think it sounds slightly distorted on that link :smallfrown: the CD version sounds clearer.

slight disclaimer, i know some of these songs lyrics might be totally opposite to the feeling they give, so some are based off the overall feeling i get, and others the lyrics. like Ich Tu dir Weh i like for the feeling more than the meaning of the lyrics although sweating bullets is for the lyrics mainly.

ive got loads more, i might come back and do some more later. and yes, they mainly fall under rock or metal, its just the area i know more than others.

I'll give it a shot, along with some explanations since that seems to be the thing here.

what would be your Themetune in general?
Darkness by Peter Gabriel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iznHkU9J9h4)
This was a difficult choice as there are a few contenders here and, unlike the soundtrack questions, I can't really justify making a themetune anything other than singular. As to why I picked this, I think this probably reflects what being me is like more than some of the other possibilities would have (as I see it, a theme song is more about reflection than description). It's also quite dark, which is fitting given my propensities.

what would be your "happy" or excited or the "things are going your way" sort of sound track?
Leave Them All Behind by Ride (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsDFoGfqKgI) This is for the Better Days by The Bees (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NR4hGC5dtGY) Motorhead by Amplifier (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGC9Lji2JLw)
Now, I will mention that I don't care for all that many 'happy' songs and I don't generally get excited very often either. Stuff like this is the closest I've got to it.

what would be your "sad" or feeling down soundtrack?
Glow by Blackfield (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDBGt2_2hoY) Way Out of Here by Porcupine Tree (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgd1v01lFyA) Nothingman by Pearl Jam (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Chr2Hg5qNl4)
Now sad I can do. It is worth pointing out that for me sad is usually rather more severe than it is for most people and this is reflected in the above.

what would be your soundtrack be to being at work/school?
Twenty-Four Years by Claire Voyant (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeYAp9cG6tk) Sleepwaker by Faunts (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LanF1ShPvVo) Packt like Sardines in a Crushed Tin Box by Radiohead (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RU8slEG-OtM)
This is again based on the kind of stuff I'd listen to, and as such is generally rather subdued, as it can help keep my mind focused on the task. It should be noted that because I really get into music, I often work/study without it.

what would be your soundtrack for just being plain old bored
Paino Lessons by Porcupine Tree (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yY4-hCYM-tQ) Commemorative T-Shirt by Oceansize (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSaAu3yF8Xk) Disorder by Chiam (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpbhbWkHP9c)
When I get bored I get restless. This will usually lead to going walking if possible or just pacing around if not. These are songs that either reflect that or are what I'll listen to whilst doing that.

Not my favourite artist, but Anything but Ordinary by Avril Lavigne (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKn2cen8c2w) is a lot like me. Probably a lot like a lot of girls. :smalltongue:

Hmm.

Slip Away by David Bowie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z716iSG_KMc&feature=related) would probably be a good one for my depressed moods.
In the Back of My Mind by Fleetwood Mac (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFkQkBRfsCc) would be my current romantic theme.
Dance on a Volcano by Genesis (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPy0BNJMjcA) would be the piece that always plays in my head when I need the confidence to step and do something.

And I'll stop now, because I can only think of songs that I think are awesome, rather than applicable. :smalltongue:

Edit: Obligatory link to this song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VcswhBy9tk) being my anthem. :smalltongue:

So, I hear you leik Cat Stephens?

...and John Lennon and Paul McCartney and George Harrison and etc.
:tongue

Yeah, among other things. The bulk of my music collection is Beatles. Hence the Lennon, McCartney and Harrison.

I kinda wanted to find something good by Queen. Then I realized I just like their music, but not on a personal level. Don’t know if there’s anything that really addresses something that I felt the way that I felt.

Good calls. Supertramp was one of my first favorite bands and... are largely responsible for turning me into the snarky bastard that I am today. :smalltongue:
I've still yet to hear another band that can evoke that much concentrated cynicism. I don't know how they do it.
Well, I gotta say I’m really only familiar with the stuff off of Breakfast in America. It’s the one Supertramp album I own, and there is pretty much only one or two songs from other albums that the local radio station plays. The point is, I can only speak about Supertramp from the perspective of this album…

…And my perspective here is that even at their most cynical, I can feel a desperate attempt to hold on to some semblance of hope. Just Another Nervous Wreck might advise us to not give a damn, but the whole thing reeks of someone who can’t help but give a damn. A 1970s Rick Blaine (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Casablanca) as it were. You don’t get yourself so worked up if you don’t care.

I think that’s the only way one can concentrate cynicism and still be functional.

"Jesus of the Moon" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7aP8_hUFIc) by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, maybe? This is the hardest one. "People often talk about being scared of change/Me, I'm more afraid of things staying the same," especially.

What would be your "happy" etc. sort of sound track?
"Rudie Can't Fail" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwm8fT3llP0) by the Clash, "I Love to Dance" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBo7pXnTfp4) by Langhorne Slim.

What would be your "sad" or feeling down soundtrack?
"24 Hours" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zo4JdTfDw0) by the Joy Division, pretty much at least half of Townes Van Zandt's songs.

What would be your soundtrack be to being at work/school
Given my field of study,"Signifying Wolf" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IgTBFlUSeg) by Bonnie "Prince" Billy is appropriate, while "Gold Mine Gutted" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtUVxKSHaJw)'s opening lines ("Don DeLillo, whiskey, me/and a blinking midnight clock") describes working on my thesis straight-up too well.

What would be your soundtrack for just being plain old bored.
"Six Pack" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxgxuZmsDkg) by Black Flag, anything off The Adicts's Songs of Praise.

Falling in Love
"Are You the One That I've Been Waiting For" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4kuXwcVOyY) by Nick Cave.

Angry
"Black" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9K7RokHjYd4) by Okkervil River.

Huh. Never considered that a particularly angry song.
To me, the song speaks of disappointment and betrayal; being used. Wanting revenge - to rip the wings off the person who exploited an offer of kindness and now that they're flying strong on their own, they attack the people who helped them get where they are.

I would ask what kind of web surfing is reflected by that, but I'm not sure I want to know.
