View Full Version : OOTS being rehosted on "comic aggregator" site

I found this on Reddit today:

{Scrubbed link to infringing site}

I have a hard time believing Rich is okay with this. A lot of other comic artists' work is being rehosted here too. Anything we can do about this?

I remember once a website was hosting a translated version of OotS. When Rich found out, he personally took care of getting the offending host taken care of. So basically, once Rich finds out he'll take care of it, most likely.

Thank you for posting this though, it will certainly help him find out faster :)

"You hosted my comic."

"What was that?"

"YOU. HOSTED. MY. COMIC!"

But where will we find a gate big enough to throw Norway through?

Well that's just terrible. Hope Rich takes care of that soon.

EDIT: While it is still wrong, he does acknowledge that this is not his work.

That's so unnecessary. OotS already HAS its own RSS feed!

Well, that's just rude.

Wow that is a -lot- of big-name webcomics he's got on there even aside from OOTS... wonder how something like that continues to be online in any case :/

I know, and a lot of those original comic sites are ad-supported. I know this site does give attribution to the creators, but it's still robbing them of pageviews and, in some cases, ad revenue.

The guy who posted it to Reddit claims the authors "don't lose much," and also that these comics are printed in the physical newspaper in Norway as well, don't know if that's true or not. I hope Rich and the other artists do see this and take action.

In unrelated news, I'm selling pitchforks and torches for cheap. Any offers?

Has a private message been directed to Rich with the link in question? It seems like a topic that he'd benefit from having direct notice of.

I reported the thread with a note explaining that it's something Rich would likely want to know. Since any mod or admin can see reports, I thought that'd be the quickest way to make sure that it would get noticed.

What quality are they?

10 cp for a pitchfork, 7 for a torch, 15cp combo

masterworks and everburning will cost just a little more though

Hm... add some grease to make them flaming pitchforks and you have a deal.

Sheriff: Thanks for the tip. That's very helpful. For future notice, bringing this to our attention privately is better because it doesn't further advertise the offender.
