I was over at the E6 rules on Myth Weavers when I once again had a look at the prestige feats, the E6 answer to prestige classes, Archmage (http://www.myth-weavers.com/wiki/index.php/Epic_6/Character_Creation#Archmage) in particular. It looks neat in principle and who doesn't want the chance to throw around awesome magic power despite the level 6 cap. Archmage Training lets you gain a CL increase for every two prestige feats you have. Every other prestige feat in Archmage's tree costs CL except for Spell-Like Ability, which costs a spell slot of an equal level to the one you want to cast on a regular basis.
So, how is this supposed to work, exactly, so that you don't screw your CL while picking up the goodies? The only thing I can think of is picking up a -1 CL High Arcana after Training so the CL boost negates the penalty and then alternate Spell-Like Ability High Arcana with Expanded Caster Stamina (http://www.myth-weavers.com/wiki/index.php/Homebrew:DnD3.5/Feats/Expanded_Caster_Stamina) before going after another one. I suspect there may be a trick with Practiced Spellcaster and Caster Training (http://www.myth-weavers.com/wiki/index.php/Homebrew:DnD3.5/Feats/Caster_Training) but I'm not sure if we can use it to pad your CL or what...
