I've been on gitp for a bit over a year now. I've been on multiple corners of the internet before. I've also had the challenge of moderating a forum for an mmorpg. This is one of the saner corners of the internet. It's one of a few places where I've seen something like the LGBTAitp thread exist and remain relatively sane. And where I haven't had trouble for being a female gamer.

I know not everyone agrees with everything you guys do. I don't. But - I love you guys. So here's a plate of internet cookies:

(Also, I am mildly drunk and feeling sappy tonight.)

Heh... nice thread. Well, sure, why not.

Thanks, mods!

Mod rock. They've been kindly lenient to my noob transgressions, but I'd like them in any circumstances.

Ooh hey, the cookies all rolled 20!

Thank you mods for keeping this a very sane place.

On a more serious note, I suspect the state of the community does a fair bit to help the mods set the tone they have, because if they were having to fight and sanction everyone they'd burn out pretty quickly and lose their tempers more often, leading to the possibility of them acting in a much less professional way...

GitP is one of the best forums I've ever been to, and while a large part of that is the community, the contribution of the mods can not be overlooked(who, in part, belong to the community as well). So yes, props to the mods from doing a good job - I know from first hand experience how difficult moderating can be.

This is the most fascinating thread!

I also love GitP for its niceness and wellmoderated...osity... It's the only forum I've ever been able to stick.

That entire banana thread was fascinating, especially Serp's contribution. While I have never eaten banana underwear of my mother's, I do agree -- wait. I cannot in good conscience discuss bananas publicly.

I guess I'll join in. This is, honestly, the nicest forum I've ever been on in the internet. People her are nice, there aren't flame wars going on every day, and at worst you can expect a snarky comment aimed at you.
Still getting used to the Mods cursing less then the average posters.

I'll add my voicekeyboard to those praising the mods. They go a long way towards keeping this place one of my favorite websites on the 'net.

I suppose we can turn it into a shipping thread if you like.:smallconfused: Um, what packing material do you favor? Personally, I'm a fan of bubble wrap. :P

Try it and we'd get escorted off the forums faster than you can say "Caress my mighty banhammer."

Aye, I suppose the mods wouldn't like being packed up and mailed somewhere. Or is that the wrong sort of shipping?

Been a poster on many boards, and have seen enough to know that moderating can often be the most thankless job in existence. So thankyou to the mods here for the great job they do. :smallsmile:

<Takes a cookie>
The thing you should realize is that modding is a labor of love. You put time and effort into a system that usually just . . .
<takes another cookie>
Dufent refspond well to orduh. It tafes alot of fee time and effut . . .
<takes another cookie>
Wif vewy liffle wesithlocation. I bewief thath the stwong senth of comoonithy . . .
<sips some milk>
And pride in providing a haven on the stormy internet is what keeps a playground mod going.

Threads like this also help to reinforce those notions.

I remember a forum I was on a few years back burned through mods pretty quickly. They've gone through about thirty in...three years? Now the place is mostly dead and one mod runs everything, though it used to take about five at any one time. The place had so much drama it was ridiculous. That and the spam attacks. Those ticked off the mods, and since the game it was for died (and crashed) they don't promote any new ones. Heil SMBB, god of Sporum Mods!

Also, found this on the boards.
Thought it was thread appropriate.
