For some reason I can't bring up the page and I tried on two different connections.

What's going on?

I can't access it either. Will probably blow over by tomorrow (uhh, Pacific time).

The wiki will shutting down for about 15 minutes at midnight Eastern time so we can do some database maintenance.

Well that solves that problem.

I'm kind of glad that I'm not the only one who's addicted to TV tropes.

Although given how often people link to it....

While I left TVTropes for good a couple days ago, as a former troper, I feel it's worth noting that TVTropes occasionally has moments where it goes down, so if it happens, there's (probably) nothing to worry about, and there is some good reason for it.

Honestly, with the amount of GitP/TVTropes crossover, they should post here when it goes down. :smalltongue:

If you picture a Venn Diagram of Tropers and Playgrounders, there is probably significant overlap.

Wow, was I the only one that went on the site early enough to notice "in 15 minutes we will be going down for server maitenence"

Guess so :smallcool:

TV Tropes might as well be GITP's unofficial summer house.

Yeah, there dose seem to be a lot of overlap between these two sites

Also, I'm glad that it is back up, I don't know what I would do if I couldn't get my fix of TV Tropes :smalltongue:

It is actually mentioned on one of the Tvtropes articles that the GITP forums can be considered kind of an unofficial troper forum in a lot of ways since a lot of tropers read OoTS and the Giant seems hell bent on using every single trope he possibly can in some form or another.

Ha. I'd like to see that article.

... the Giant seems hell bent on using every single trope he possibly can in some form or another.

I'm pretty sure that this holds true for irregular webcomic as well, especially since TV Tropes is frequently linked to in the comic's annotations. I seem to remember the author even commenting on it at one (or more) points.

Last paragraph of the intro for the OoTS article. :)

Yeah, I'd call Irregular Webcomic the unofficial affiliate of TvTropes before OotS, considering Randall Munroe occasionally goes so far as to just link to a relevant trope instead of write an actual annotation (and he's lampshaded this repeatedly).

And lampshade them to heck and back in the process. The act of lampshade hanging was even lampshaded. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0546.html)

He doesn't use tropes because they're in TVTropes, but he does use tropes. TV Tropes doesn't own them, they just list them :smalltongue:

I merely meant that he seems hell bent on using every literary convention he can in some way, shape or form. I did not mean to imply that he was a troper, nor that he specifically used Tvtropes.

And to complete the circle, DMM is a member of this board and posts occasionally here. :smallwink:
