It wasn't for any character specifically, but earlier I was looking at some of the sorcerer/wizard spells. I think I was looking at Irresistible Dance and I thought to myself, "Huh, no somatic components. Just verbal. I wonder what you could say to someone to get them to dance?" And then for some reason this popped into my head: link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4d7Wp9kKjA).

The fact that I had Lostprophets playing on my other speakers while I found this on youtube made everything much stranger for several seconds.

Dancing barbarian with a warhammer. Once, when he won a dance-off, he finished with the words "Stop! Hammertime", got his hammer out of his glove of storing, and made a hell of a mess. When someone missed him, he'd usually say "can't touch this". I made sure to give him a very high AC.

I was informed that we'd be playing a primarily urban political/social game the possibility of going entire sessions without (openly) drawing a weapon. in light of this our party consisted of me. social rogue diplomancer. the rest of the players decided to make...a barbarian a druid and an evoker...

my GM in his mercy scrapped his original plan and gave the party tasks they were built for. clearing out a dungeon in the middle of nowhere. i spent the entire adventure hiding in the back so as not to be bludgeoned or blasted just to diplomance a few goblins into leaving without us having to fight them. 4 hours 3 skill checks. social butterfly in a dungeon.

Theme song: the beautiful letdown (switchfoot)

Well, one of my current characters is a NG Elf Swordsage, who disdains violence, refuses to kill a sentient being, and tends to go to great lengths to settle problems peacefully. She also tends to be very calm and is always trying to persuade her companions to avoid senseless combat (one of the other characters is a hot headed and violent cleric of war, so we tend to have moral debates a lot; luckily he's CG though). She's a learned scholar, who's favourite subjects are philosophy and the natural world, and adventures to learn, experience the world, and test herself, rather than for wealth or fame.

Her theme song might be something like this (Earth, by Susumu Hirasawa): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ak_jATqoRc&feature=related

If I were to play a Barbarian then whenever he raged his theme song would be Need to Be Strong (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pWEtpcFCjo) from Naruto. That song amps me up whenever I hear it and I immediately picture someone getting pissed off and opening up a can of whoop-ass on someone.

Hmm my characters tend to have entire playlists to themselves, especially the long running ones. But lets see what I can do with my two active ones

Out of the stuff I normally play as background music for my gravity defying rogue (lvl 25 sorry put gravity is a suggestion now not a fact.) that's built for absurd speed and agility, Pump it by Black eyed Peas fits her the best, it has the speed and the general attitude she has. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaI2IlHwmgQ&ob=av3e

And my brand new undead streetfighter? I dunno yet but I imagine something along the lines of Dying for an Angel by Avantasia http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGvgGDpUAxs both the lyrics and feel fits him rather well I think. It's rather lengthy and dark so I won't go into it here, but the feel does fit his backstory, but not quite his personality, but that might or might not change since my characters have a habit of shifting alignment after a while.

Haha no but it's not a bad song. :p But really anything with loads of attitude and high tempo fits my girl. :p (I could have gone with Ozzy Osbourne I don't wanna stop, Can't save you or Trap Door to. the last one is pretty fitting too "Too late, standing on the trap door!" pretty much sums up her fighting style...XD)

Just not sure about the version, there're so many (http://www.staggerlee.com/pgs/the-list.php). Probably Lloyd Price (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCPutYaGFlE) or Mississippi John Hurt (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8S-Pu6T0Q0).

but I'm thinking of going with Aces High by Iron Maiden...

the character is based entirely around his mount.

wands of magic missle/fireball/lightningbolt/etc. for guns.
alchemests fire/acid/orc shotput/etc. for bombs.

3rd edition Paladin pulled into AD&D Ravenloft (rebuilt for rules change) Gone Away (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=numCZoBFcv4&ob=av2e). It was a proper Ravenloft campaign, not some excuse to go vampire bashing.
Though something that made mention of the hell called the Vietnam would've worked. Pulled an "They're all around us man!" first time tried detecting evil.

Cleric of Lathander in AD&D Ravenloft: Cleansed by Fire (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mnb3mzP0Z0Y). Mainly due to how his story ended.
Though most of the albums Last temptation and Brutal Planet would've done well for him too.
Yes, I tend to religious characters in settings that don't treat them very kindly.

And then we started a planeswalker campaign in 3E that had us assaulting the 9 hells. Guess who the DM suggested I run. Alice Coopers Dragontown would've fit him at that point, but it wasn't even released until the campaign was over.

My last character was an Fighter Archer. We where doing on Ancient Greek, Egyptian, Norse campaign. My charachter was a Spartan elite, a secret army that invaded the other countrys and did the dirty work. To become one you had to be good in fighting by a very young age, this due brainwashing things. The training was very hard, and due to not listening and fighting with others, he had to kill his best friend in a tournament.
He later killed his squad when he realized murdering an entire innocent village was kinda evil.

He was a cold heart, who actualy was deeply depressed by his traumatic experience, when someone asked him about his past he would be furious and would think they are searching for him, he was a bit paranoia also, and he never showed any facial expression.

I think this song sums it up real good

My character in the sadly cut-short (due to DM banning) PbP game on these forums was a Dragontouched elf Bardblade build using DFI and IC optimization.

Only one song can appropriately express inspiring allies to burn things with a draconic bent... you already know what this is... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ofgctjaVqI)

Lesser Tiefling Dragonborn Dragonfire Adept named Valen Acerbi, the Dragon's Mind (title required). Considered himself one of the three beings (Fury and Presence were the other two) that merge to become The Dragon, basically the most Perfect Dragon to do... whatever it wants to do, really. He was incredibly greeedy, and was pretty obsessed with the concept of it. The theme I chose was well.

Currently he's just a level 6 paladin with show-offy tendencies. So "Ladies and Gentlemen" By Saliva works out pretty well.

When he gets his first level in Gray Guard though, it will likely be "For whom the Bell Tolls." (Taking into account how Smite Evil turns into Smite Chaotic...and then just Smite.)

Don't have a theme song for any recent characters, but I had one for my short-lived Vampire character, who looked like this:http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-ash1/v361/0/62/1030392692/n1030392692_30182151_4945.jpg

My ex's main D&D character, an elf Rogue, had Been Caught Stealing by Jane's Addiction (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrwjiO1MCVs&ob=av3e) as his theme song.

I have a few.

In the first game I was in there was a barbarian in the group who's idea of how to solve all problems was to kick down the door, charge into the middle of a mob, and then cleave everything in his path. We gave him this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GFRRUYhEDM&feature=fvst) theme song and we played it every time he did this.

My latest character is a bard who uses the violin to evoke tears and empathy from the audiance with the pain of her past. This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmMWha-sBnc) song is usually what plays while doing so.

And finally, in one of my most recent games the group had just staged a Coup D'état and successfully taken over the country with our own fascist paramilitary organization. After we had the epic show down with the king and made the party face the new leader of the country, we addressed the people of the nation with this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRIAw6LkqlE) playing in the background on a loop.

I talk about this in the gaming group's in jokes thread. I had a cleric whom out of character I gave the theme song "I Need A Hero" that in game became part of campaign lore.

As for my current character, no theme song yet emerges conclusively but for now I go with "Rainbow Connection", as he is a Sorcerer and I choose my spells based on a colors theme.

Previous character is easy: "I'm Too Sexy For My Shirt", as he was a crusader/master of nine who liked to fight shirtless and looked for excuses to become so. He was insulting his enemies because they were defeated by a half-naked human, a male at that when it involved drow.

Oh god, I lol'd. Tell me he had a high-top fade.

Of course. He also had sparkly golden parachute pants, and a pet monkey assassin named Furious George. He didn't know it was an assassin, but that was a very rude monkey. It once rolled a 20 on a disguise check to dress up as the party rogue, then death attacked the archmage when he got suspicious.

Sorry for going a little off-topic.

If I was going to pick a theme song for my characters, it would have to be totally cheezy.

For example:
- "Bad to the Bone" (can't remember artist - an oldie) for my NE Necromancer. Or maybe "Nobodies" (Marilyn Manson)

I have a bunch of characters in several campaigns:

A hulking Hurler/ 2hand Sword Hill Giant that is more or less the powerhouse of his group: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EVVKNcI48Y
(Mostly because it fits with his need to charge and toss)

A small Sly Whisper Gnome built for hiding weapons and fast talking people:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4e1vA1w-QA
(He's very crafty and will stab you in the back when your not looking!)

A Chaotic Good elf fighter who's 1/2 of a sheild and sword team (He strikes from the back line while the other guy defends with an untouchable AC): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Kuns0bJtU4
(It has an unstopable army feel to it that kinda meshes with how the 2 characters have sort of steamrolled over the villians fo far)

I also have a Warblade Shifter in a "no-magic" setting who TWFs with a bastard sword and heavy spiked sheild (and also a gore), and he has most of the leaping/ pouncing/ dodging manuevers and stances: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwg033Ze3Lk

For my Wizard, I hadn't thought of it, but the first thing that comes to mind fits so I'd say the theme to the movie Lifeforce by Henry Mancini:

http://youtu.be/_rwUOut0CqA

My half-orc Bard (Naz'Reth) is a drummer, and I first came across the Japanese taiko group Yakudo in their cameo in the cheesy, but fun monster movie Deep Rising. They were the taiko band on a cruise ship playing one of their songs in the background (sad they all got eaten by monsters). Was very cool and I picture him playing this sort of stuff (his drums are enchanted with Ghost Sound to provide the other parts ;) )

This is the song they played. "Fujin" It's a live performance and at the end of the concert.. so they're getting pretty phrenetic with it, but you can see why he'd dig this stuff ;)
