Focari

The focari are a race that simply works hard. They are a people capable of intense concentration, blessed with the work ethic and drive to get what they want out of life. They seek to be paragon, an exemplar on all accounts, and their focus lets them enter a state where they block out all else but their current task. The reward for their personal devotion is great, for a perfected focari lives on for all eternity, but is not always worth the cost.

Personality: Focari are extremely focused creatures, known for diligently working on tasks with an almost single-minded devotion. They have an eye for perfection, and are fully capable of spending lifetimes devoted to achieving this transcendental state of flawlessness. Yet, this racial quest is also a curse, for a forcari will live an eternity outside of their natural lifespan as long as they maintain a perpetual state of self-improvement, but will eventually go mad as they attempt in vain to reach a state they can never achieve. Most forcari set more humble goals for themselves, and can pass in peace once their ambitions have been achieved.

Physical Description: Focari are wholly humanoid in appearance, albeit with long, outstretched arms bearing three fingers and a thumb to each hand. They are typically tall and unnaturally lean, averaging around 6 feet and 100 pounds. The skin of the focari is an off-white, mottled with light tones of grey and occasionally light greyish pastels of red, green, or blue. Their hair is fine and pure white, often with small streaks of a primary color, reflected in the pupils of their large eyes.

Focari have no preferred fashions or colors, but insist on clothing and jewelry being free of any stains or blemishes, and especially loose threads or tears.

Alignment: Focari seek to improve upon themselves, but strive for a goal that is often more inherently selfish than altruistic. They may take on many roles in an eternal lifetime, but focari do not have any particular tendencies toward a single alignment.

Relations: Focari are a shadow race, in that they blend almost perfectly to the societies of other races that populate the world in far vaster numbers. While somewhat out of touch with their community, focari are always beneficial to others, as they are extremely accomplished craftsmen and artisans, and readily excel at whatever profession they follow. However, they are almost never leaders or diplomats, and many focari are too preoccupied with their personal enlightenment to spend much time with other creatures, or even members of their own race.

Language: Focari speak Common, out of necessity and of having no ancestral language of their own, but are very adept at learning other tongues and dialects.

Focari Racial Traits

+2 Intelligence, -2 Charisma. Focari are sagacious and are quick to learn, but their very nature distances them from others.
Medium size: Focari, being medium, receive no adjustments based on size.
Speed: A focari’s base land speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision: Focari can see in the dark up to 60 feet. Darkvision is black and white only, but it is otherwise like normal sight, and focari can function just fine with no light at all.
Focused: +2 racial bonus on Concentration checks.
Mental Immersion (Su): A focari can enter a state of complete concentration to enhance their performance with skills or in battle. Entering this state of focus is a Full-Round action that provokes an attack of opportunity. While focusing, a focari's hands meld together with objects they are holding, such as a weapon or tool and cannot be disarmed. The focari gains a +1 competence bonus to attack rolls (if a weapon) or skill checks (if a tool such as a masterwork tool). A focari in this state takes a -4 penalty to Spot and Listen checks, and loses the use of any hand utilized in the focus. This state can be maintained indefinitely, but can only be entered a number of times per day equal to 3 + the focari's Intelligence modifier. The bonuses gained from mental immersion increase by +1 for every 3 levels a focari possesses.
Resourceful: Focari gain 1 extra skill point at each additional level.
Automatic Languages: Common. Bonus Languages: Any (other than secret languages, such as Druidic).
Favored Class: Engineer (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114229) (or Rogue if unavailable)

I'd think monk would be the favored class for that sort of race, just based on the similar concept.
