Note: Water damage is used here:

Water damage type: Water damage, also known as pure water or cytolysis damage, is caused by water that is so pure, magically or otherwise, it is harmful to touch, due to it flooding ones cells and causing them to rupture. The Plant type grants immunity to water damage, while constructs, aquatic creatures, and amphibious creatures have water resistance equal to their hd (may be adjusted at dm discretion). The water subtype grants water resistance 10 unless the the creature also has the elemental type in which case it gains water immunity. The slime type and fire subtype grant cytolysis vulnerability. Being submerged in water or other fluids grants water resistance 2 as they dilute the purity.
Note: Thanks to Owtho for creating logical 3.5 Water damage.

Alright, so I see kind of what you're trying to go for here, but I have a thought. What about, instead of going with the obvious color-coordination, such as red is fire, blue is water, &c, &c, you go for something a little more unique? There are lots of different associations with color, such as red being passion, blood, loyalty, courage, health, sex, sin, and even more. Forming these associations would give a more varied, but interesting, theme when granting spells.

Or, if you were to go a slightly different way, instead of simply granting spells based on certain colors, you could go for abilities based on the colors instead, much like how I was suggesting above. That could allow for "Color Warriors," who manifest their chosen associated color in certain ways.
