I have to say that Rich's art for the latest round of fight scenes (vs. the Linear Guild) has been fantastic. Really good stuff.

What is your favorite OOTS fight scene? I'm talking small scale, 1 vs. 1 or 1 vs. 2 sort of thing. I think my top two are Roy vs. Xykon (on the zombie dragon) and Evil V vs. Xykon. Roy vs. Thog in the arena is shaping up to be another favorite I think, though I don't find V vs. Z as exciting right now (maybe because Z has been thwarting everything V does).

I see your witty contribution and raise you one "Miko's second fight against the OOtS." (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0251.html)

I'll say Roy vs. Miko in Shojo's throneroom is one of my favorites, because every swing of the blade was accompanied by devastating verbal beatdown, of which I am quite a fan, and which I'd like to see Roy deliver more of.

I've got three!

Soul Spliced Varsuuvius vs the Dragon.

Redcloak vs the Cleric.

And Belkar vs the Eye of Fear and Flame. Because that is totally something my players would do.

I thought Elan vs. Kubota on the row boat was a pretty great scene, though I don't know if it's really a fight. But I also loved Elan vs. Nale after Elan became a Dashing Swordsman and was trying to save Haley! And Elan vs. Tarquin was a great scene as well, fittingly dramatic for Elan!

That wasn't a fight. They were just playing a game. :smalltongue:

Oooh, the Elan vs. Tarquin duel was awesome because it was hilarious.

I think Haley vs. the Test of the Mind was probably one of the most brilliant.

But it's really to hard to seriously choose.

Haley and Belkar vs. Tsukiko was a pretty fun fight. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0518.html) I like Haley's confidence and a cat to the face is always a nice touch.

One to one (or close to it), I'd say one of the two following:

1. Leeky Windstaff vs. Durkon.

2. V and O-Chul against Xykon.

I did like that one too... it was funny and swashbuckling in its own way. Perhaps it won't be the last between them.

I gotta say I liked Elan vs. Nale, right after Elan took his first lvl of dashing swordsman.

Going with V and O-chul vs. Xykon and co., particularly the Explosive Runes bit.

They're all pretty darn good though.

Roy vs Xykon on the zombie dragon was great.

Darth V vs Xykon was another good one.

And to bring it all back, V vs Chimera (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0020.html)

I really enjoyed the fight scene with Belkar escaping with the rogue cleric after his revelation. It works well with the scenes before it.

That epic fight/ chase between Belkar and Miko takes it easily.
Second to that is Samantha against her father when he challenges her for leadership of the bandits. Pow right in the kisser! :smalltongue:

Why has NOBODY said the movie-snack's fight in comic #301?
A god died, it was epic (literally)!

I'm actually enjoying Roy vs. Thog in the arena. A knock down, drag out, no holds barred fight. No magic weapons, no spells, just a good, old fashioned fight. (Yes, I saw the potion of healing)

D&D usually ends up being a battle of the better prepared, best spell selection, best magic augmentated weapon, but sometimes you just gave to hold your ground and fight it out with what the Gods gave you and not much more.

Maybe I'm just missing my UFC fights while overseas...

Redcloak vs. the cleric at the Azure City gate.

Yes, that one (456) (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0456.html) was particularly fine -- it worked on multiple levels. And it had many, many jokes in it!

(1) there's the Wumph! joke at the beginning
(2) the satire of cleric save-or-die spell combat
(3) and the repartee, "(copycat!)" (with the undertonality added too)
(4) the lovely zot! drawing, simple yet elegant with its two wisps of smoke
(5) the final commentary

and (6) the grace note at the end at the end, 30 strips later (486 frame 5) (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0486.html)

Gotta go with Belkar vs the Thieve's Guild. From the massacre to kissing the girl to that silly pickle woman the action and taunting was amazing (and it was made even better by how long we'd been denied Belkar's usual antics).

I can't believe no one has mentioned O-Chul delivering the coup-de-90% grace on Redcloak.

Smite... Evil.

Paladins usually shout this excitedly, like a Yor Charging Grapple attack, but I hear O-Chul gritting it from clenched teeth. Given the suffering we see him go through, the unexpected moment, and the overwhelming, violent triumph, it's the most cathartic strike of the series.

V's fights are a lot of fun, but against the dragon she's the embodiment of God Mode, and the theme of the Xykon fight is the horrifying slow realization that you've been overconfident and are going to get your butt kicked. That's good material, but not a favorite.

I think the evil equivalent of O-Chul's moment would be Xykon wiping out the Sapphire Guard without breaking a sweat.
