I've spent a while now amassing music to play during my d&d sessions, but I've discovered that throwing everything into a single playlist doesn't really work that well. Random songs come up at inopportune times; boss battles get calming music; conversations get drowned out in intense battle music.

Currently I just use iTunes, but I was wondering if there is something better I could be using. Yes, I could just make multiple playlists, but changing between them is somewhat troublesome while also handling DMing.

So here's what I'm wondering; is there a good music program I should be using that allows for easy and smooth transitions between playlists?

So, no music programs better than iTunes?

I honestly think your best bet will be a music program along the lines of iTunes (not sure how it works, I don't use it) or Foobar2000 and create playlists for different moods (Foobar has tabbed playlists, so it's very quick to change between playlists) and keep the computer close at hand so you can change it quickly.

But I dunno, I'm not a DM, so I haven't had to deal with this, I just know I haven't heard of anything specifically good for RPG's or anything that works in a way you seem to want.
