After awaking on the day your trainer-ship begins, you are handed your Pokedex and starter Pokemon by Professor Elm.

Professor Elm: I hope you enjoy the responsiblity that comes from being a Pokemon Trainer! Only yesterday, two trainers set out from here... If you hurry, you may be able to catch up to them!

"Which way did they go, then?"

Kira1402
2011-07-29, 02:34 PM
Professor Elm: I believe they went West on Route 29, but I can't say for certain if they went straight to Cherrygrove City or headed North from Route 29 toward Blackthorn City.

"Let's go to Cherrygrove City! Um... I'm sorry, I don't know your name..."

Jean-Paul glances at whatever wall or window separates him from the western route, and then looks back at Prof. Elm.

((French accent, not very thick.)) "And do you think it'd be useful to catch up with them?" The seventeen year-old, a fair bit short for his age, looks sceptically at the professor and the other trainer.

"My name is Jean-Paul. You are...?" he asks the other trainer.

Professor Elm: Only if you're interested in travelling with them, I suppose...

The girl flicks her hair behind her.

"I'm Bex."

Jean-Paul contemplates something for a second, and then responds to Bex.

"Well, Bex, I think it'd be better if we stuck together, at least until we have our feet wet, yes? Then either go our own ways, or try to find those other trainers."

Fire Bear
2011-07-29, 03:06 PM
"Yeah, sure. I still reckon Cherrygrove City sounds like an awesome name - let's go there!"

Elm says his goodbyes, and you are en route to Cherrygrove City.

Tuesday 19th July. 9:00am

He looks at Bex oddly, and mutters, "Che... Blac..."

"Okay. Either way is fine with me."

After bidding Elm farewell, his face lights up a bit, and he reaches for his new pokeball. He lets his Elekid out, and just says, "Kiddo. That's what I'll call you," with a slight smile.

Then he leaves, motioning Kiddo to follow.

Bex releases both her Pokémon from their Balls - a Charmander and a Pichu. She picks up the Pichu and, motioning for Charmander to follow, she shugs Pichu as she walks...

Jean-Paul points the pokedex at her pokemon, looking at them curiously.

Then he turns to the Larvitar waiting patiently outside the lab, and says, "Allons, Caïd," and returns Kiddo to his pokeball.

"Can I assume you know the way to Cherrygrove?" he asks Bex, and looks around at his surroundings.

(("Looks around at his surroundings" = not a subtle hint. :smalltongue:

However, I think Kira went to sleep, and I'll be off, too, in about 20 minutes.))

Fire Bear

"Oh, wow! I totally forgot about the Pokédex...

"And we go west on Route 29."

((Subtle hint? What? :smalleek:))

There are houses around, and trees surround the town. To the west is a route which you can assume is Route 29, and to the east is a large expanse of water. At the shore is a sailor and a boat.

Dom's POKEDEX: Charmander. #6
Fire type Pokemon.

Pichu. #172
Electric type Pokemon.

"Okay. Oh! Do you think there's anything we should do here first? Get supplies, or something?" He still seems a bit unsure about this whole Pokémon adventure thing. After all, he doesn't actually know where he'll fit in to it.

"Yeah, that is definitely a good idea. I could do with getting some more potions..."

She heads towards the buildings closest to them...

Kira1402
2011-07-31, 10:22 AM
The buildings appear to be houses. The residents are in their gardens, cutting the grass, and planting flowers etc.

Fire Bear
2011-07-31, 10:24 AM
"Huh, no shops. Looks like we're going to have to go along the route till we find somewhere with shops. Want to go now?"

randman22222
2011-07-31, 01:25 PM
He nods at Bex.
"Yes. I've given my good-byes; there's no point in delay." He nods at Caïd as well, and they begin to leave their humble home town.

Nothing really occurs for about 18 hours of your journey down route 29, and you're beginning to get tired. Can you make a Perception (Wisdom) check?

Perception check: [roll0]

Bex, you see two ferret-like Pokemon around you.

Out of no-where, one of them lunges at Dom, who hasn't seen them yet.
Accuracy: 18
Damage: 8
Dom, you take 14 points of damage from the attack.

Bex whips out her Pokédex to find out what the Pokémon are.

"OW! Damner..." He swears in French, moves so Caïd is between him and the monsters, Pokédexes the monster that attacked, and then:

Command: Tells Caïd, whom he doesn't keep in a ball, to bite the nearest one.

Caïd's actions:
Accuracy check (15-20 = flinch):[roll0]
Damage check:[roll1]

He glances down (presumably) at his leg, to see how bad the bite scratch is, then looks back at the man-eating ferrets.

Kira1402
2011-07-31, 02:33 PM
Dom, it was a scratch.

Caïd leaps in and sinks it's teeth in to the nearest, KO-ing it.

The other one sees this, and targets Caïd.
Accuracy: 13
Damage: 9

The Pokemon Scratches Caïd, doing 10 damage.

POKEDEXES: Sentret. #161
Normal type Pokemon.

Bex debates for a moment whether she should help or leave Jean-Paul to his own devices. She decides it would probably be good practice for him and she'll get the next ones...

Then, as an afterthought, she points the Pokédex at Caid...

randman22222
2011-07-31, 02:56 PM
"Oh wow... Showed him who's boss," Jean-Paul says, and then chuckles. ((It's a pun that makes sense if you know French. A bad one.))

Command: "Try that on the other one, too!"

Caïd's actions:
Accuracy Check (15-20 = flinch): [roll0]
Damage Roll: [roll1]

If the Sentret doesn't faint, he'll chuck a Pokéball. If it actually gets hurt, I should add.

Kira1402
2011-07-31, 03:01 PM
Caïd bites in to the other Sentret, and manages to bring it down to the point where it's fighting to stay conscious.

It then attempts to hit Caïd again:
Accuracy: 12
Damage: 3

Dom, Caïd takes 2 damage from the Scratch.

randman22222
2011-07-31, 03:26 PM
"This is going very well!" he shouts, surprised at his success. Then, he reaches for an empty Pokéball, and throws it at the Sentret.

Roll: [roll0]

"Caïd, if it escapes, let it flee. If it won't, then bite it again."

Rolls for potential attack:
Accuracy: [roll1]
Damage: [roll2]

Kira1402

The Pokeball hits Sentret, and sucks it inside.
After wobbling for a few seconds, the Pokeball stops moving.

Well Done.

Caïd gained 30 EXP! Caïd reached level 3!
