I hate the Beatles, but I thought the puns in #684 were brilliant.

682. I like belkars definition of helping people.

#682, #684 and #685 were all amazing...

Actually, I cannot choose one, so I guess this time I won't vote.

This was a very good collection, but #685

Tough one. Haley's character growth shows in 681: she's able to open up to Elan. Belkar tries out his faux development in 682, then in 685 we saw a bit of real development in him: he really does care about Mr. Scruffy.

However, I'm going with Vaarsuvius's character development and Elan's puns: 684.

682. Moral: never pick a fight with a tree when there is a small-sized murderer wanting revenge.

I like 681 and 684, for character development and the lack of Belkar. I'll decide later...

EDIT: 684

Actually, I think that this is kind of a weak batch, but I'll go with 682.

#684. Oh, the puns...

Belkar's disturbing revenge on Buggy Lou was just shocking. And his jumping around "pretending" to fight was funny to me for some reason. 685 stands out from the rest.

All five of these are good, but 685 is especially monumental for being the only time we've seen Belkar show concern for the welfare of another living creature or honor an oath.

685

Loved the dialogue, and the sudden kill.

684, because of the parallel between how he is now and how he is in the very beginning (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0041.html).

685. Belkar manages to have pseudo-character development while still remaining intrinsically Belkar.

Hmm, 684 has the puns and V's character development; 685 has a nice callback to 171 and Belkar's character development. I think I'll vote for 685 here, but it's close.

685, hands down. A bit about Belkar's past, showing how he's still the homicidal bastard under his pretense... and then going to town on Buggy Lou and his cohorts to save poor Mr Scruffy.

681 Awwwwwwwws at little Haley.

682 belkar's "development" combined with my 2nd favorite quirk (durkon's tree hatred) make it the best out of these

684. Hands down. Love the beatles, made me laugh so hard.

I'm not a huge fan of any of these, but #685 stands out above the others.

683 for me. The beetles rising outta the sand was hella dramatic.

Without a doubt, #684 gets my vote. Not only is it some much needed character development for Varsuuvius, but as a humongous fan of puns and Elan's newfound prowess with his Prestige Class, I got more than the lion's share with this one. :3

682. There's something hilarious about Belkar saying "I LOVE helping people!"

685, It turns out Belkar really did know a slave trader like he said way back in book two.

Well, talk about striking out. I called 681 the favorite (only because I saw the rest of the round as weak) and it musters a single vote. On the other hand, I did call 682, 684, and 685 fighting it out for second, and perhaps in retrospect I should have called them fighting it out for the win. And at least we get to the second page, barely.

686 will attract votes for the callback and Roy's reaction, but it won't be nearly as popular as the Belkar crowd coming out for 687. That strip should fight it out for the win with 688 for the Dune references, with 689 a dark horse for (what's perceived as) its take on the "morally justified" threads. 690 will attract votes and has an off chance of beating 686, but I expect it to be the runt.

684, because of my previous comment.

685. The first few were a bit weak, but this really shows the belkar-scruffy relationship better than any other. He'll help enslave the innocent, he'll murder, lie, and steal, but will kill old friends in cold blood to protect his cat.

Meh, I was on holiday, so I'm a little late for voting, but if you concede a delay, then I go for 685.
But man, the puns in 684 are pure genius.

Well, it certainly won't decide anything, but I'll go with #681 anyway. The punchline is nice, and some of the others seemed a bit forced.

Man, where's Nazzo gone? He's updating less often than Rich!

(Great, now I've gotten this locked before he can close it for update schedule whining AND thread necromancy...)

Man, where's Nazzo gone?

He's not posting since... well, it's last post is the OP of this thread. I suppose it's life, and hope it's nothing serious.
Have you tried to PM Silverraptor? Maybe he's more informed.

He usually waits a long time after the "end" of the poll to update. Also, he almost never makes posts other than the beginning and end of each poll. So this is really nothing unusual.

I'll go with 681.

Edit: Whoops, only several months late on that one. Suppose I should read more carefully?

Edit 2: And, look, I've already voted. At least I'm consistent.

681 for the backstory and utter cuteness.
