hey playground,

i am starting in a new campaign and our players consist of 4 meat shields and one cleric/rogue, so i wanted to make a supporting caster so i can help the party's meat shields in anyway i can.

i was thinking of making a war weaver but i'm not real good at making casters so i would like some help choosing spells, feats and equipment that could be useful.

starting character level is 8 and what i've got so far is:
Wizard 5/War Weaver 3
STR-18
DEX-18
CON-18
INT-18
WIS-18
CHA-18
i was going to buy a +6 item for INT, and our starting gp is 200,000 and we are not allowed to spend more than 50,000gp on any one item.

plz help playground!

Typical Batman advice (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104002), probably go specialist Transmuter for more buffs or Conjurer for more crowd control. With such high starting gold, most of the party will already have plenty of ability score enhancements so you may be better off skipping War Weaver entirely and just stick to Haste and debuffing the opponents.

I'd go Focused Conjurer 3/ Master Specialist 3/ Paragnostic Apostle 2, get Abrupt Jaunt (PH2) and use Martial Wizard to have Improved Initiative instead of Scribe Scroll, and get Spatial Awareness and Mind Over Matter from PA. Get a Circlet of Rapid Casting (MIC), and get +6 Int added to it for the same price as a Headband of Int +6 (MIC). Get a Lesser Rod of Quicken, a Lesser Rod of Extend for hour/level buffs, and probably a Lesser Rod of Chain Spell (CA) for Greater Magic Weapon and other buffs. Definitely have a Necklace of Adaptation, and pick stuff from the list (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=187851) to keep from getting disabled yourself. A Healing Belt (MIC) and Rod of Bodily Restoration (MIC) are highly recommended. Use the Lesser Rod of Extend to put Greater Mage Armor on yourself every day, which will grant +8 AC due to Mind Over Matter, or use (Greater) Luminous Armor (BoED). Use the Lesser Rod of Quicken to throw out a Haste at the start of a fight, then use a crowd control spell like Black Tentacles or Stinking Cloud. The Circlet of Rapid Casting can be used for Web and Glitterdust. That Lesser Rod of Chain can be used for Greater Magic Weapon, Fly, and Snowsight (via Arcane Disciple) so you can have Obscuring Snow constantly active (Frostburn). If your party is already extremely strong then you'll be giving them more of an advantage by hindering the opponents, rather than further buffing them.
