I've been running a few ideas for the start of an all pathfinder campaign I'm throwing around, and decided to start with a chase. I was wondering what the most efficient method to play it out was. I have done notecards, and we made it work before, but it felt like it could have been done better. Should I be using different methods for different vehicles/on foot? And just general ideas for making a good chase.

If you're using chases, check out the Pathfinder rules for running a chase (originally from the Curse of the Crimson Throne premade adventure, iirc): http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/chases

That link doesn't work. Try this one http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/mastery/chases.html#chases

With chases, it helps to have descriptions ready. Things happen fast so just a sentence or two to let the PCs which course of action to take. The faster the chase, the fewer obstacles. Doing the prep in advance helps a lot.
