Brief Introduction

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is a reboot of the MLP franchise by Powerpuff Girls artist Lauren Faust, currently viewed by (almost) the entire Internet, not only the intended audience. Here is a place where we discuss the joy of friendship.

It's a clever show. It has excellent writing, character dynamics, humor, animation, and generally treats kids seriously rather than condescending to them. It has every right to be a 20 minute corporate committee designed infomercial, but it's not.

Pixar technically makes shows for little boys, and produce some of the best animation in the world.

No Brony could ask for more. I recommend watching the episodes in order. They're all up on Youtube. Unusually, Hasbro seems fine with having the entire series up in public because they've made no move to bring down any of the episodes. Search for "Friendship is Magic Episode 1" and you should find the series pretty easily... Or search for "Sharing is Magic" Google Doc. That is all.

Whoa, calm down there. The show is light hearted, optimistic fun but it's not for everyone. It's good fun, the community is good fun, and everyone can do with a reminder that friendship is magic but if it doesn't gel for you we'll love and tolerate you anyway. Plus, you might hit the wrong episode. Ask first?

> Derpy Hooves/Doctor Whoof

Two minor background characters who were adopted as emblems of 4chan. Derpy Hooves is so named due to an animation error in the first episode that had her eyes facing in different directions; 4chan has assigned her the role of Ponyville's mailpony, and her only line so far has been "Muffins". The show's animators are aware of Derpy's popularity and she's shown up a few times recently with her eyes obviously derped. Currently made canon in Feeling Pinkie Keen and in Faust's picture showcased below, Derpy was deemed important enough to appear in storyboards for Season II.

Dr. Whoof is a pony with an hourglass cutie mark; he and his kin save time and space very quietly off camera.

Alright, so, that thing I was going to post in the last thread, but was afraid it'd get ignored when switching threads. I intend to do a little research for a fic idea I got, and so I post a question to you all:

What do you think makes the ships between Rainbow Dash and the rest of the Mane Cast work, individually?

By which I mean, why would Twilight Sparkle be attracted to Rainbow Dash, why would Pinkie Pie be attracted to RD, why would Rarity be attracted to RD, and so on. Stuff like, "Applejack would be attracted to Rainbow because she's a challenge, stubborn enough to hold her ground against her," and, "Fluttershy would be attracted to Rainbow Dash because she provides stability and courage that she wouldn't have otherwise." And the more reasons I can get, the better, so don't be afraid of answering for somebody who's already been covered, even if it's completely contradictory!

If anybody wants to know the concept of the fic (it's not imperative to answering the question, though if I do end up writing it, the concept could help you help me think of a title :smallredface:), it's spoilered at the bottom of the post.

Also, quoting my fic recommendations so THEY don't get lost in the movement to the new thread.


First is You Can't Be Missed If You Never Leave (http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/06/story-you-cant-be-missed-if-you-never.html) by Staeg Masque. I won't waste your time summarizing it since you'll see the summary when you click to the Equestria Daily post. I'll just say it's TwiDash and leave the rest for you.

Next is A Precious Rainbow (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7132369/1/A_Precious_Rainbow) by milesprower06. It's a sequel to Cupcakes that relies on a tiny little change near the end of the story, but it's definitely worth reading (and it's worth reading Cupcakes to read this one, it's amazing). If you like it, the author's written a few sequels and is writing a side story too, which you can find on his profile, and the sequel links spin-offs written by two other people.

Last would be several of Ebon Mare's stories, but In The Rain (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6848261/1/In_The_Rain) is the one I'll focus on. I've also read In The Dark and Crumbling, which are both amazing stories as well, but much much darker than this one. Anyway, In The Rain is a cute little TwiDash story with two different endings, which I thought was interesting.

Fic concept, do not peek if you want to be surprised if/when I write it:
Basically, the Mane Cast decide to get revenge on Rainbow Dash for the various pranks she's pulled on them, and all decide to "admit their feelings for her" on the same day. The above question is so I can believably have them fake interest in her.

She is either planning on killing Twilight, or instantly making out with her. Sounds about right based on the fanfics I've read.

Still, I think this is rough around the edges at best, so if anyone has better ideas, feel free to speak up.

Rainbow Dash is blank card. All we know she is competitive and likes Wonderbolts. You can paint virtually anything you want into her, which is how you can make virtually any pairing with her work. I'm not sure if this is helpful with 6 pairings, as you'd need to add too much to her, so just use things she has in common with the rest of the cast? AJ, FS, and PP work almost without adjustments, Rarity can claim she loved her posing as model, and Twilight... It's the only one that requires a bit of work, but certainly doable :smalltongue:

For Twilight: Simply have her play it at Dash as an opposites attract angle. Twilights smart and not particularly outgoing, Dash is Brash, Athletic, and in your face.


For Rarity: have her play it as Blue Blood left such a god awful taste in her mouth that she doesn't even want a technical prince anymore. No, she want's a Pony who was born to no special status, but has preformed such feats as legends are made of (Sonic Rainboom comes to mind.) and has the body of the hero's of Old. *Cought, Dash is Uber Athlete and pulled off Greek Goddess look at Gala, Cought.*

As already Stated, AJ, FS, and PP pretty much write themselves via the shows canon.

Unless it gets replaced by another fantasiful relationship, such as a millionare from Manehatten, I don't forsee another "love interest". Rarity hasn't really shown any interested in a specific pony as opposed to the prestige or title.

Although, an episode with Rarity and Applejack's big-shot cousin Orange from Manehatten may be interesting to watch...

Well...I dunno. I really don't see her with anypony in particular. I could see her going on a date with one or two others. We know that the colts like her, as Caramel and his friend were pretty easily convinced to do tedious manual labor for her in the finale.

Yeah i noticed that, but didn't know why that was until now. I actually copied the thumbnail for Twilight instead of the full size image...
As for the background, its a picture through a telescope i believe, and that was the only one that seemed to go well, but my googlefu is weak, if you could find me a better one ill replace it!
As for rarity's background.... finding a pile of gems is nigh impossible. so i took a small pile and copy pasted it a dozen times....

I'm fairly certain that Mr & Mrs Cake aren't related to Pinkie Pie. I do recall somepony positing that Pinkie showed up Sugarcube Corner one day and just wouldn't leave, so Mr & Mrs Cake employed her as an apprentice baker out of sheer embarrassment.

Regarding the cutie mark discussion earlier, I'm of the opinion that the cutie mark is an abstract or semi-abstract representation of an event or item that was a key contribution to that pony discovering their "special talent".

Overall: Excellence :smallbiggrin: Pacing could perhaps be tweaked a bit - I'd almost like a little bit more stability in between disasters, just enough to give the impression that things are going right before another nosedive. That was certainly present, I just think it could be accentuated a little more.

Sadly, none of the truly awful suggestions were followed through on. Perhaps that's for the best, though, at least as far as the happy ending is concerned. :smallbiggrin:

You know, that raises a good question. Why is Sweetybelle Living with Rarity? Where the heck are that little Filly's parents?

I figured that she just watched over Sweety Belle on occasions when their parents were out, be it for a night in town alone or on a business trip.


They're either out exploring the world or the three hour cruise they went on, with all the other pony parents we haven't seen, shipwrecked onto an uncharted tropical island. They're all perfectly safe and will be back as soon as one of them builds a helicopter out of coconuts and bamboo.

The only problem is that they keep getting thwarted by Pony Gilligan. That and headhunters.

But don't worry! They will get off, and then return to open up a hotel there! They'll even get the Equestrian Globetrotters to make a few appearances!

Is Shimmer glaring at Midnight or Blueblood? I thought from the previous sections that she was giving looks of confusion at Midnight and anger at Blueblood, but this confuses me on it a bit.

Not 100% on this, but I do not think you need to capitalize "the" in a pony's title. ex: Alexander the Great. The "the" is more of a connector for the other two words rather than a word itself, if that makes sense.


Shimmer must have been wondering just what she had seen in Midnight at this point, she was surprised that the pegasus hadn’t of completely given up on her at this point...

Don't know why, but I think this might read slightly better as "must be"


The Ursa roared, but Midnight’s horn flared to light. Much akin to her azure mother, vines and roots began to pull up around her, starting to lash around the beasts limbs!

Are the vines and roots gathering around Midnight or the Ursa? The sentence reads: gathering around Midnight, but actually touching the Ursa. Might read better as "vines and roots began to pull up around it, starting to lash around the beast's limbs.

Also: beast's, not beasts, unless there is more than one Ursa (in which case it would be beasts' :smallwink:)

Midnight began to bounce around, giggling with glee, unaware of her surroundings, the surrounding ponies looking at her with confusion.

This book was made out of absolute derp and I love it to death. I have to say, you really have a knack for making Midnight fit in extremely well with canon, something a lot of OC writers lack. And this story is no exception.

The intro moves a little too fast for my tastes. I think if you added something between "Doing what?" and Shimmer's explanation, or even just lengthened the explanation and turned it into a bit more back-and-forth, you'd fix it. Just a suggestion.

It seems like after the dinner, Midnight stops following the bad advice. That just struck me as odd.

Overall: Very good. It still needs some tweaking (and other ponies have pointed out more nitpicky things) but it does a good job of keeping the tone of the series and being overall full of pony, if that makes any sense.

It doesn't surprise me you found the intro a little weak, it was actually the last thing that I wrote, and I only rewrote it because I lost the first intro, so I was trying to rewrite from memory without much ambition to do so. I'll see what I can do to strengthen it.

I'd like to explain the bad advice a little: Midnight follows the first three pieces, and inadvertently follows the fourth (If you can get your voice louder than the ponies on stage, you have succeeded. ). The fifth was there mainly as wordplay-the humor advice starts off the section where they get infected with Poison Joke. The sixth is there to solidify that, yes, it's absolutely bad advice, and Midnight has essentially given up on it at this point.

I'm glad that, overall, you liked it. As for the tweaks, this is why it's a 'rough draft', after all. :smallwink:

I say that she wasn't really interested in him, but rather interested in the fantasy of getting swept off her feet by a handsome prince. Needless to say, the actual day involved very little sweeping.

Unless it gets replaced by another fantasiful relationship, such as a millionare from Manehatten, I don't forsee another "love interest". Rarity hasn't really shown any interested in a specific pony as opposed to the prestige or title.

You need to have a bit more direction, and edit it a bit. For example, neon lines dividing parts of the image are a bit distracting, and posterized version isn't that different from unedited one.

Plus, Photobucket really isn't the best place for posting art, unless you prepared it in this resolution (do you have a netbook?).


Yeah i noticed that, but didn't know why that was until now. I actually copied the thumbnail for Twilight instead of the full size image...
As for the background, its a picture through a telescope i believe, and that was the only one that seemed to go well, but my googlefu is weak, if you could find me a better one ill replace it!
As for rarity's background.... finding a pile of gems is nigh impossible. so i took a small pile and copy pasted it a dozen times....

But what part of cutting off your own hoof in a crowded restaurant as a 'joke' isn't salvageable? Okay, actually, yes, you've got a point.

Really, practise shouting in front of a mirror. It seems silly and difficult to explain to your housemates but some words are strong and shoutable and some words just aren't.


Now, to get to work on editing. I'm going to make this thing as strong as I can.

After reflecting on it a bit more, I actually came to the conclusion that this might benefit from more direct structuring. As in, a clearly labelled chapter, a terribad piece of advice, and then a scene. The formality gives you a few advantages, like letting the reader breathe and relax after one particular disaster, making the quotes fit into the narrative a bit better, and invokes the feel of reading a book which is kind of a point when the story's about misreading a book.

I also feel that the book gets almost absolved for responsibility for it's terrible advice on the grounds of being fifty years out of date. That advice is so bad it transcends space and time, and also, there's quite few actual outdated statements in there (no references to stallions gadding about with unshorn fetlocks, monocle etiquette etc [which, as we all know, was what fifty years ago WAS LIKE!]). I think a more direct "Nope, this is dumb" kinda verdict on it is what the book is screaming for and what it should get.

Oh yes, and I'm also not sure I picked up on how Shimmer found Midnight's secret spot?

So he comes up into my room and after talking for ~10 minutes he finally notices the ponies sitting in my keyboard, and I guess freaks out is the best word, over the fact I have ponies on my keyboard. I honestly don't care what he thinks, but I thought it was a bit immature of him to react like that and leave before I could give the arguments on why people watch it. My brother is in his low 20s(and I'm 16 if it matters) if anyone cares and put this into any kind of perspective.

People don't share it that often on others' hissy fits over [you] liking ponies so I thought I would. Anyone else deal with things like this?

I'd argue that there's a difference between a goofy impromptu thing that is over and done in about 30-40 posts, based around actual pony content (pictures), and the 10+ page epics that the previous threads have contained, though.

Agreed. This was two pages, extremely impromptu, and there was no intention for it to last longer than well... Now. I'm just wrapping up the last few loose ends from when I went off to dinner. Why yes I have actually! I have two roomates, and one just moved in today, three months after signing the lease. He moves in (we're sharing the master bedroom) and notices Twilight and Applejack on my iHome. He says some very unsavory things I can not repeat due to offensive terminology regarding my sexuality, my... sexual fetishes, my level of intelligence, and the same subjects of my friends who watched the show at my convincing and found it to be of quality as well.

Yes, he meant it mostly in jest. No, I wasn't offended. However, I was more than annoyed. I can only imagine what my brother would say if he ever found out. I grew up on a farm, and Ray is the most redneck drunkard person I know. He would probably beat me senseless.

I wish you the best of luck in dealing with your brother. I'm sure he'll cool it eventually, and you'll be able to actually get a word in edgewise after a day or so.

Formal chapters might result in some quite short chapters. This is okay because feeling the need to strengthen each chapter would help with that pacing thing I mentioned earlier; making each a resilient, self-contained apocalypse works structurally in my mind.

And sure, it sounds snappy and it works in the moment, but when thinking about it, it starts to fray a bit at the seams. The book could have been written yesterday and still be just as terrible. There was never a time when that advice was useful :smallwink: . One way to do it is make it written by Blueblood.

It comes down to possessiveness. In the original excerpt (spoilered for those who haven't read it yet):

We are talking about the limbs attached to the beast.

The original "beasts limbs" are two disconnected words, just two plural nouns sitting next to each other. It could be talking about dozens of creatures and their limbs, or just one (though admittedly the context tells us just one). Theoretically, since there is no connector there at all saying that the limbs belong to the beast, we cannot even be sure of that.

Changing it to "beast's" marks it as possessive, it is saying that the limbs in this statement belong to the beast, without using that many words to describe the relationship. It also marks that it is a single beast being talked about.

If it were instead "beasts' ", it would be saying that there are several beasts, and the limbs belong to all of them.

Formal chapters might result in some quite short chapters. This is okay because feeling the need to strengthen each chapter would help with that pacing thing I mentioned earlier; making each a resilient, self-contained apocalypse works structurally in my mind.

And sure, it sounds snappy and it works in the moment, but when thinking about it, it starts to fray a bit at the seams. The book could have been written yesterday and still be just as terrible. There was never a time when that advice was useful :smallwink: . One way to do it is make it written by Blueblood.

You ponies are the best writers ever. Seriously. Like to the point where in the recent past I have looked at critically acclaimed novels and just shrugged my shoulders at the quality of them. And thought to an exact fanfiction or author that I can hold above them.

Hell, some of the things I've read here hold up to classic literature in terms of prose and technical / mechanical aspects, as well as general feel. Of course, Ponies will never hold up to Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle in terms of subject matter in my book (I am a massive literature nerd by the way), but seriously. The amount of talent just overflowing from the writers in this fandom is staggering. I have spent more time reading Fanfiction off of this thread and Equestria Daily in the past two months since becoming a Brony than I have reading through my book collection. That says something.

This doesn't surprise me one bit, to be honest. It does the same for me too. Having spent so long typing in proper grammar, it's a hard habit to break out of. Greetings pony thread! I have returned from my hilarity at work! And am not surprised to find that stuff happened! Anyone care to fill me in on anything interesting I missed the last few days? Except Season 2 starting soon. Didn't miss that. Never miss that.

Also, I need to start watching what I read. I got a new book last weekend and was reading through it. There were a few cases where a sentence would start with "Twilight settled in..." and my immersion of the book was shattered when my imagination stuck Twilight curled up at the scene. One such scene was in an evil troll army setting up camp. It only happens when 'twilight' has a capital 'T', but it happened twice before I finished the book. Confound that pony!

One of my friends thought it would be funny to pull out a poorly-written OC pony and torment me by reading it's backstory. Didn't work too well when I kept pointing out all the silly inconsistencies with the show canon and gave the entire thing a proper critique. Another friend was there and thought it was funny too. He's one of us now.

Some other people I had met tried mocking me about it too. A lot of it fell flat when I was able to shrug it aside and prove I had superior wit. Hard to laugh at someone for liking ponies when (aside from it dominating my every thought) it doesn't have any visible effect on their abilities outside of ponies. (I like Repo!, listen to metal, and am a massive troll. The pony thing just comes out of nowhere.) Of course not letting their taunts get to you helps. I've long since stopped caring what others think of my interests, so it's really hard to get under my skin about anything. :smalltongue:

It would be like Pinkie Pie getting diabetes, Winona getting rabies and killing Angel, Fluttershy running away because of what happened to Angel, Applejack having to put down Winona, Rarity discovering her eyesight is decaying to the point where she'll be blind within a few months, Twilight having an accident and breaking her horn, and Gilda getting into the Wonderbolts. All as the finale for Season 2. Now that's terrible.

Oh! I was actually going to say something relevant to this. So I was watching Cutie Mark Chronicles while eating dinner tonight and I noticed something. When Applejack is having dinner with her relatives, immediately after she sees what 'dinner' consists of in the big sophisticated city, you can hear the clinking of silverwear. That's right, those ponies are so high-class they use silverware. This gets more bizarre when you realize everyone in the room is an earth pony. Except for that one unicorn. But that's still only one unicorn.

The toys were also re-released in original form when G3 came out. I don't believe most of them were in any of the animation, except for Cotton Candy (the pink one) who had a very small cameo in Rescue from Midnight Castle as one of the ponies who gets caught first by Tirek. I believe Cotton Candy was also re-released in G3 along with Minty with slightly different colors/hip mark. I think she was in a few of the G3 movies, but, again, I'm not well versed in G3, especially the media, so I can't tell you off the top of my head.

You ponies are the best writers ever. Seriously. Like to the point where in the recent past I have looked at critically acclaimed novels and just shrugged my shoulders at the quality of them. And thought to an exact fanfiction or author that I can hold above them.

Hell, some of the things I've read here hold up to classic literature in terms of prose and technical / mechanical aspects, as well as general feel. Of course, Ponies will never hold up to Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle in terms of subject matter in my book (I am a massive literature nerd by the way), but seriously. The amount of talent just overflowing from the writers in this fandom is staggering. I have spent more time reading Fanfiction off of this thread and Equestria Daily in the past two months since becoming a Brony than I have reading through my book collection. That says something.

The toys were also re-released in original form when G3 came out. I don't believe most of them were in any of the animation, except for Cotton Candy (the pink one) who had a very small cameo in Rescue from Midnight Castle as one of the ponies who gets caught first by Tirek. I believe Cotton Candy was also re-released in G3 along with Minty with slightly different colors/hip mark. I think she was in a few of the G3 movies, but, again, I'm not well versed in G3, especially the media, so I can't tell you off the top of my head.

Miss. And yes, Applejack is the most prominent. She is the only pony to survive re-colorings and re-release from G1 to G4. I can't say much for G3, because I didn't like it, but watch Rescue from Midnight Castle if you can. She's one of the mane characters as perhaps an ancestor of our current Applejack. She still has an orange body, yellow mane/tail, and her trademark freckles. Though she was not in My Little Pony & Friends (1980s TV show) or MLP: The Movie, she still counts to me. She did have a re-color in G3 in the toy line, but they changed her to a more Big Macintosh-esque scheme (http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/G3_Applejack). I don't believe she was in any of the G3 animation, but I'm not well versed in those. (Maybe someday I will watch these to increase my hipster knowledge..)

EDIT: After further research Applejack's G3 reincarnation WAS, in fact, in Princess Promenade. (Also played by Ashleigh Ball who voices her in FiM as well as Rainbow Dash!)

Yep! You are correct. Lauren Faust released information that Hasbro lost rights to any characters EXCEPT Applejack and Spike. Thus why there are unfortunately not many characters that made it from G1 to G4. Though Minty was an original pony toy in the 80s, I guess Hasbro has maintained the name, but not the full color scheme or hip mark. G1 Minty was never in the 80s animation. (I think that's why Twilight Sparkle is named as such, because Hasbro lost rights to 'Twilight' who you can also see in Rescue from Midnight Castle.)

Bon Bon (http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/Bon_Bon) was indeed technically G1, though they were released at the tale end. Bon Bon was a character in My Little Pony Tales TV Show in 1992. (Awful if you asked me..) They were not prominent in the original animations, but were more of a spin-off re-vamp to help transition MLP into G2 (yeeeeuck) which started in 1997.

[Completely amateur opinion] I think there's a certain time period where Copyright laws hold, but if the company doesn't re-up or however they do it, they can lose all or partial rights to their characters. I don't know exactly how that works, but that would be my best guess. I haven't read anything else about this specific case that says why.

EDIT: Also, both Applejack and Spike were used in G3, so I'm assuming Hasbro kept the rights for those two characters for specifically that reason. (Though Spike was WAY less cool than he is now or was in G1..)

Too many shades of pink floating around and everything was kind of faded. I'm really glad that we ended up with the ponies we got, the differences in colour just make everything look brighter and happier.

Yes, but we realy dont know much more about it than what Larun told us, so we dont realy know more about it than that Hasbro does not own the rights anymore. As such, no one in the community will know why unless Hasbro tells use, which is very unlikly.

Honestly, I think this may be the case. Copyright law only lasts for so long, you're correct. Another company could have snapped up the copyrights as soon as they expired from Hasbro, and basically just "squatted" them.

I have to say, I kind of like Firefly in g4 style. Somehow, Faust manages to make pink and electric blue badass.

Also, I need to start watching what I read. I got a new book last weekend and was reading through it. There were a few cases where a sentence would start with "Twilight settled in..." and my immersion of the book was shattered when my imagination stuck Twilight curled up at the scene. One such scene was in an evil troll army setting up camp. It only happens when 'twilight' has a capital 'T', but it happened twice before I finished the book. Confound that pony!


Twilight settled in, warm in front of a roaring fire blazing in her library-tree. Steam drifted slowly upward from the jasmine tea she had prepared, and all seemed right with the world. Outside, however, darkness waited... an army of misshapen things had lumbered out of the Everfree Forest, driven by the cold toward the warm glow of Ponyville's twinkling winter lights...

I'm gonna put this under spoilertags, so ponies who haven't read the rough draft aren't, well, spoiled.

Having taken everypony's advice, here's what I'm concentrating on to make the story stronger than it currently is:

1) Improve the 'good' times that Shimmer and Midnight have before each disaster. Make them longer, and make it clearer that they really are connecting on more than just a physical level. Show that Shimmer is right, there truly was a good date there, just hidden under the disaster.

2) Ham up Blueblood II! More ham! More ham for everypony!

3) In conjunction with this, rewrite and strengthen the conversation between Midnight, Shimmer and Blueblood II where he was demanding to know what Shimmer can offer Midnight, and onwards to where he is inspired to go on a grand Quest.

4) Strengthen the ending, and close some of the holes in the plot: The book not getting a good send-off, how Shimmer knows about Midnight's secret place when it was exactly the sort of place they could have used in Moonlight.

5) Possibly add a small scene with Rarity and Midnight during the fitting process of the dress.

6) Make clearer 'chapter' splits in between each incident, as suggested by Thanqol.

Yeah, we commentate on other people's stories in a similar way as to what we do here. Except the class has a few people who like everything and will argue that obvious structural flaws are valid stylistic choices.

And while the joined scissor blades are a useful tool, ponies wouldn't need the finger handles. It's possible they'd have one handle, so they could carry it in their mouths if they had to, but not two. Non-unicorn barbers, I can't imagine at all.

Absolutely yes. And interestingly, Mask is not my antithesis - she's a reflection of a part of me I keep hidden from everyone else. She's insecurity and blindness, not knowing and not trusting, but she's also insight and empathy. She's the one who cares the most because she knows that feeling.

Jayden, however, is my antithesis. I made her to be the opposite of me in every way. She's good at everything I'm bad at - music, science, maths and sport. I find her political beliefs repugnant, her taste in music terrible, and her belief in her own invincibility doomed to disaster. She's got pride that runs directly into hubris and walked a path that'd end at Wisdom 3 and paradox everywhere. Exactly the sort of person I would never, ever get along with. And she became one of the most powerful voices in my head in record time.

And it's odd, because in the process of this ongoing argument I've been having with her, I've become reconciled to a lot of my own nature that I previously rejected. I've become able to take a more holistic view towards a lot of society. It's like our worst natures are cancelling each other out and allowing the common ground we do have - a deep, fundamental belief that human beings are Pretty Awesome - to really rise above. It's the most interesting, unexpected and wonderful evolutions my mind has ever gone through.

Personally, I prefer the idea that the rock farm grows gemstones. Having gemstones grow in Equestria would help explain why Gems can be found so easily in the ground, plus it would make more sense for dragons to be able to eat them. In my crazy interpretation, the reason the Pie family had to move the rocks around was because they need to carefully regulate the amount of light that the rocks get so they grow whatever type of gemstone that the Pie family chooses.

However, seeing them as a secret organization to keep an ancient evil imprisoned is awesome, especially if they are all secretly ninjas.

It would be like Pinkie Pie getting diabetes, Winona getting rabies and killing Angel, Fluttershy running away because of what happened to Angel, Applejack having to put down Winona, Rarity discovering her eyesight is decaying to the point where she'll be blind within a few months, Twilight having an accident and breaking her horn, and Gilda getting into the Wonderbolts. All as the finale for Season 2. Now that's terrible.

Usually yes, there are times when I feel lazy though, and allow a spelling error or a lack of proper spacing to get through. Long story short, I'm not smart enough to use my smart phone by a long shot.


Think Wizard Alcatraz on Steroids. when the series starts no one has ever escaped. One person doing it is a central part of the third novel/movie plot as no one can figure out how he pulled it off! That, granted, changes when the dementors, the guards who are a very large part of making the place so inescapable, swear loyalty too the evil dark lord who's going around killing everyone and trying to take over, but still.

Come now, you didn't even mention the demontors' ability to suck people's souls out of their faces!

Pinkie's grandmother taught her to laugh at her fears "When she was a little filly"....even though the rock farm clearly had no laughter pre-sonic rainboom. "Giggle at the ghosty", cheerful song meant to remove fears, or ancient chant designed to protect one from Discord's powers?
