No hurricane thread - I'm puzzled

So, I'm wondering why there isn't a hurricane thread in friendly banter. I might have missed it, but I checked a few times and doubt it. I think something like Hurricane Irene hitting the entire east coast would cause at least one person to make a thread, and since there isn't I have to ask: would the topic be against forum rules to do so? There was a thread for the earthquake, so why no hurricane thread? I'd make one, but the lack of one leads me to think it'd be against the forum rules. I'm just checking because I'd make one but want to check with mods I'm not doing something wrong.

I'd say it's almost certainly because noone's made one yet. Even if there'd been one, and it had been moved for violating the rules, there would still be that note there saying it had existed.

If you want a hurricane thread, make a hurricane thread. Though most people who would have anything to say about it probably don't have electricity right now.
