Vigor gives you like 5 temp hit points. You get that persisted and it gives you them until you take 5 damage then they go away.

I may be missing something here, someone care to explain?

I think you're confusing the psionic power Vigor (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/vigor.htm) with the spell. The power gives you 5 temp HP. The spell gives you fast healing for a short period of time.

Persist the latter, and you basically never have to worry about healing again, except in emergencies.

In other words, infinite out-of-combat healing for free. It's not gamebreaking but it does enable fighting far more before resting.

What Piggy said. Vigor the spell is no big deal, and using Persist Spell metamagic on it basically means that you don't have to use more then 1 spell per day per person to cover all of your non-emergency healing needs. Vigor the psionic power gives you 5 temp hit points for each Power Point you spend on it for 1 minute per level, which basically increases your base hit points by 30-50%, which is a fairly big deal.

Technically you can only persist mass vigor, due to the persisting rules, but otherwise everyone's logic is correct.

Oh, I thought it was just the psionic power. I always forget that some spells and powers are named the same. Thanks for the clarification.

It's also important to note that there are several other ways of getting essentially unlimited out-of-combat healing. Persisted Vigor is nice, but it's far from game-changing.

That really depends on whether your DM feels that a range of "touch" is fixed or not. It certainly doesn't scale with level, as the examples of prohibited spells do.
