I was wondering if anyone knew what would be an appropriate DC for skill rolls for each character level. Assume that the character has maxed out their ranks in the skill, has no access to feats/class features/etc. that provide a skill bonus other than Skill Focus and Greater Skill Focus, has a score of 16 in the appropriate ability score for the skill, and a bonus to said skill equal to their HD.

Well the easy answer is that a DC of Character level +16 will be passed by a character that focuses in that skill roughly 50% of the time. Skillfocus turns it into +19, greater skill focus make it even more. But really nobody takes those feats except for really really focused skill builds.

How do you think it would be with a bonus equal to their level?

Skill ranks are already a bonus based on level. The DC you can expect them to pass increased accordingly.

Alright. However, the question was basically, what would be a good DC for characters based on level if they have a bonus only equal to their level + skill ranks + 3(for ability modifier) + Skill focus bonuses, and nothing else affecting it.

In that case, an appropriate DC would be (Character Level x2) +16.
