So first 4 levels in bard, a dip in fighter, then 10 in chameleon. Last 4 levels in bard to top off some spells and inspire courage. Will this be viable? Look at arcane strike for some extra oomph in melee. Maybe drop the second level of fighter for master of masks for gladiator mask.

Most of the completes are available, except for champion. No tome of battle.

Duskblade (5) / Chameleon (10) / --> Lots of dipping options. Cloistered cleric for 3 domains (badass!) and divine metamagic persistent or quicken spells, barbarian for pounce, Fighter2 for a couple of feats, or some fun 5 levels in a PRC (Witchslayer is cool!)

Theres a variety of ways for you to qualify for the skills, or you can just take a cloistered cleric level before going chameleon (duskblade 5 gives you a free quicken spell though which is awesome)

Or you can go factotum 5 -> Chameleon , then get to level 8 factotum for that extra standard action. leaving 2 class levels left i'd take duskblade (To channel arcane spells on melee attacks) and cloistered for all its badass'ness.

Your available books list lacks the big Inspire Courage boosters, so the Bard isn't going to bring a whole lot to the table. Unless you have a specific plan for Fighter feats and no other way to get them, those levels are probably not doing you any good. Arcane Strike doesn't play nicely with Chameleons or Bards with fewer than ~15 levels in the class - they just don't have a whole lot of spell slots to play with, and the ones they do have are just too valuable.

If you're going the warrior-bard route, Warchanter can be pretty good, and can generate some pretty meaningful damage on its own. Bard 3/Barbarian 2/Chameleon 10/Warchanter 5 could be pretty scary. Lingering Song would basically be required to keep songs and rage simultaneously.

Like Mikka mentioned, Duskblade can also be really neat with melee chameleons: with the Chameleon's open spell list and ability boosts (+DC!) and the duskblade's channeling, you can use a lot of those weird touch spells that clutter up various spell lists.

Spellthief also gets some neat stuff with Chameleon, due to the Master Spellthief feat in complete mage. A Spellthief 10/Chameleon 10 is basically the best Spellthief available (it can steal and recast 9th level spells with its SA), and the Chameleon gets 30 base CL on its arcane spells, which is pretty good by most measures.

The most important thing with Chameleon builds is to keep at least 3 CL outside of Chameleon levels. This allows access to complete arcane's Extra Spell feat, which is a pretty easy trick to filling your spellbook with any arcane spells that catch your eye.

Wow thats a really neat trick! and a nice combination even without it!

3-4 of your first 5 levels don't matter and can be anything you want so long as you meet skill requirements. The 1-2 levels that matter are wizard 1 and possibly (if you want to) Cloister Cleric 1. Wizard one allows you to use spells without a spellbook (what a Chameleon uses) if you take the ACF Eidetic Spellcaster and Cloister Cleric for three free domains and turn/rebuke/destroy undead. After that you should stick with Chameleon either to level 2 (amazing drop out) or till level 7 (All the arcane and divine spells you could ever want!). From there I would then look into circle magic and tainted sorc for shenanigans that will make you a spellcasting god. Or you could ride it to level 10 to get the capstones and then choose something that can be done in 5 (or 8 if you build off the first three that don't matter) levels that makes you more of a boss.

There's PC in my current campaign working on Swashbuckler 3 / Cloistered Cleric 2 / Chameleon 10. He's taken the Academic Priest feat (DL:AoM) so CloiCler is powered off of INT, and I'm letting him use it for Divine casting from Chameleon too. (I'm also allowing Chameleon to power his Lore ability since it fits with his deity giving him the Trickery domain.). He's otherwise chaining all that INT into a Knowledge Devotion fighter.
