So, yeah, was wondering if this was something known or if it just bubbled up out of the seedy underbelly of the internet or arose at some point in the depths of PnP before the internet was a glint in that one guy's eye?

I believe when walmart type stores arose (people compared) but that might be just me. I first heard about it on internet myself.
