View Full Version : [PF] Converting Maneuver and Stances? How?

Hello again,

Now that my party all have their Character Ideas I've got some question about pushing the Melees a bit by introducing Maneuver and Stances.

One of my Players wanted a Samuraiesque Character. We will use a small bit homebrewing to let him Flurry with his Sword (like in Pathfinder with a Longsword) and so he decided to be Fighter/Monk. It will be his first char so he wants something easy to play. Since the other player wants to play a Rogue/Ranger (like Aragorn I think) I would like to now how to Introduce Maneuvers and Stances without converting the Classes.

My thought was to let them have one Stance for free at first level. Initiator Level = Characterlevel (jeah a good chunk of homebrew). Then let the monk/Fighter be a refluffed Master of Stances Monk/Fighter. But am utterly confused for the Ranger/Rogue (this will be his first DnD/PF Char either).

The other 2 players will play probably Casters. I think one will be a summoner, and the other a Druid or something that way.

So, again I ask the Playground in what should I do about this...

I hope you can help me and hope you have a nice day,
Krazzman

Well, for the Rogue/Ranger, I would highly suggest they either go straight rogue or straight ranger; consider The Switch Hitter (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/extras/community-creations/treatmonks-lab/test2/treantmonk-s-guide-to-rangers) for a ranger build if they want to be Aragorn.

Give the monk the Warblade progression, but using disciplines that fit the monk's theme better. That should be enough.
The maneuvers themselves use little converting. Those based on concentration become another skill of your choice (you could use raw concentration, but it's worse), like Martial Study, Autohypnosis or Perception.
The trip-ones, in my group we just decided that instead of "pick dex or str to use in the trip", we add both together, so the trip cmb is bab + dexmod + strmod + size + whatevers

Thanks,

@ Blue Inc: It will be Gestalt, meaning Rogue 20 and Ranger 20 on level 20.

@ Andreaz: Thanks, which would you favourise for a Samurai?

Should the monk still replace his features for Master of Styles?
How should I affix the Stance/Maneuver Idea to the Rogue/Ranger?
Should I give him a similar progression? Or should they only get a Stance for first level and then have to invest Feats for them?

Have a nice day

Make sure your monk player picks up the Dimension Dervish line of feats later on, so he can move + full attack.

Sounds interesting? In which book is this?

Ultimate Combat, but it's available on the SRD.
