So, I am honestly confused as how to keen works for doubling a crit range.

example: I was told a scimitar had a crit range of 18-20 (true) but a KEEN scimitar has a crit range of 15-20...

I are confused, wouldnt that just make it a 16-20? Or am i missing something?

Also, the weapon I am looking for, i remember seeing it once a long time ago for 3.5 in a book

it's like a greatsword, 2d6 plus str and 1/2 but the crit range is 18-20

obvious what I want it for.

Sooooo any help would be greatly appreciated.

A scimitar crits (well, threatens a crit, but I'm just gonna say "crits") on a roll of 18, 19, or 20. That's three numbers. Double the crit range, and you double the number of numbers that will let you crit, giving you a total of six: 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20.

The Weapon you're looking for is the jovar. It can be found in the planar handbook page 68.

I believe the weapon you're looking for is the Jovar found in the Planar Handbook page 69

It does 2d6 damage and has an 18-20x2 crit range
Tis exotic though

If you are going to spend the feat on Exotic Weapon Profiency for the Jovar you might as well spend the same feat for Exotic Weapon Profiency: Heavy Jovar. Same 18-20/x2 crit now with 3d6 of damage. Combine with Strongarm Bracers to get the DMG thrown toward you.

Another possible thought is if you wanted to crit fish would be a Katori Ribbion Jovar. 2d6 18-20/x4. Crits hurt big

What is the advantage compared with Improved Crit (greatsword)? That should threated a crit on 17-20, and do 2D6 damage (3D6 if large using Strongarm bracers to wield).

Simple: you can take Improved Crit too and end up with 15-20 crit range.

Also, Exotic Weapon Proficiency is available from level 1, while Improved Crit requires BAB +8.

That you can spend another feat to take Imp. crit with that too, for a lots of crits?

Thanks, yeah the +8 BAB req is a bummer.
