This isn't my first attempt, I drew four characters about a year ago. But now I am in a new pathfinder campaign, and so I'm making the attempt again. Tips on consistency? Also, I would like to learn how draw backgrounds in that style, are there any tutorials available for that.

Oh, and if you are wondering about the crest, he has a bunch of ranks in profession: chef

I think it looks really good (but did you mean to put the lance in his left hand?). As for backgrounds, I don't know of any tutorials. What I'd do is read through the comic and look at the backgrounds for inspiration.

I agree, the avvie looks like a fine representatin of the OotS style. I'm not sure if the eyebrows are right and the horses tail is a little ovaloid, but that's really minor quibbly stuff. Otherwise it's great.

For backgrounds, my impression is OotS doesn't really do much other than use very, very simple basic shapes to keep the focus on the characters in the foreground. Here's the latest comic (#807) for reference (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0807.html) - the pillars are rectangles and the arches are a few nodes in a curve. Basically keep it really, really simple and it'll work.

Oh, I suppose you can't joust left handed, can you? >.< I have a tendency to draw people left handed (I myself am.) And good advice on the backgrounds, I guess I didn't really get how to draw them because there isn't much to them. :p And spot on about the eyebrows, they aren't really put in unless a specific expression is being taken normally. I'll take another look at the tail as well, thanks!

Well, I suppose you can joust left handed if the person you're jousting against is also left handed :smalltongue:
