What would be a good halfling build for 3.5E? Whatever it is would probably have to include Rogue, but beyond that I have no idea.

Like everyone else I love the crazy halfling from OOTS, and wanted to make a combat oriented little guy... :)

Any ideas?

Belkar's a ranger/barbarian, for what it's worth. Before people start pitching ideas, it's good to know what books you have available and how exactly you want to fight. Do you want melee specifically?

I don't necessarily want a barb/ranger. I am looking for something Rogue based, maybe TWF. Good Skills(UMD), sneak attacks with two weapons (daggers for a halfling), maybe some way to get sneak attacks without having to flank?

I have access to the basic books: PHB1&2, DMG1&2, Complete Warrior, Adventurer, Divine, Mage, Arcane, Champion, Spell compendium. Anything else would require a LOT of convincing with the GM

My available stas are: 14, 14, 14, 18, 13, 11

Okay, I'll just throw in one idea:

Be a halfling druid and ride on your animal companion. A few levels higher up, it can be a flying mount if you want. You share your spells all the time, move and full attack all the time, and since your mount can be Medium you can still go anywhere without having to squeeze.

edit: sorry, postings crossed over, didn't see in time you want something roguish.

Sadly, the two books you really need, Tome of Battle and Dungeonscape, and the other useful supplement, Dragon Mag, are not listed.

Factotum 1 would net you trapfinding, and then it's just a matter of finding a way to make sure search stays on your skills list. Then progress swordsage, focus most maneuvers on Shadow Hand and Tiger Claw, with useful things coming form Setting Sun and Iron Heart. Take TWF, a couple of flaws, and a couple of dragon mag feats, and before you know it your dumping Con, Str, Wis, and unless you like it for RP reasons Cha. All you'd need is Dex and Int, and you'd have plenty of damage form Maneuvers and maybe with a bit more work Iaijutsu focus if Oriental Adventures was also worked in, along with no shortage of stealth and skills, and attacks for both when you can catch your opponent off guard and when he knows your there.

But again, necessary sources not on the table to make this fly.

Ser Small, the Backpack Knight! A mounted combatant who rides party members and uses Mounted Combat to replace their AC with a ride check.

Is Unearthed Arcana material on the SRD (http://www.d20srd.org/) allowed?

Based on what you've said so far, I'd suggest something like

Rogue 3/Fighter 2/Invisible Blade 5/Nightsong Enforcer 10

Halfling Paragon and a specialist in the sling loaded with Halfing Skip rocks makes a nice start.

Wasn't there a feat that gives Bonus Sneak Attack dices with Daggers?

Another book you should try to convice your DM, IF you play the Rogue, is the Complete Scoundrel, you can invest Skill Points in Skill Tricks.

Have a nice Day,

A 3-level dip into swash never hurt a melee rogue. It nets you weapon finesse, insightful strike (INT to damage), and boosts your BAB, HD and fortitude save.

Convincing is often worth it, especially when it grants you access to the Umbral Disciple PRC (Magic of Incarnum), my personal favourite in sneaky builds. Why? Hide in plain sight, always usable (not inly in those stupid shadows, that can be easily dealt with the daylight spell). One of the best ways to get blindsight, probably the best for its good range. Finally, very nice reach ability, so you just need to grab Combat Reflexes, and the battlefield belongs to you. Unless they have really high ranks in spot, you sneak attack everyone who tries to get past you.

Druid. The answer is always Druid.

Check out the Halfling Druid substitution levels in Races of the Wild. You don't have to use all of them, you can (and should) skip the Druid 5 sub level, but definitely get the Halfling Druid 1 and 13 substitutions.
