Are Sandgolems any good?

The Walker in the Waste PrC from Sandstom gets the ability to create Sand Golems. They are Huge, 18 HD constructs, but their stats are kinda lackluster. They have 23 Strengh, Dr 5/adamantine&bludgeoning, and AC 23.

Am I missing something, or do they just plain suck for a CR 12 construct?

They are tough, and you can get a lot of them given time and wealth. Considerering you can get the ability to make them before 12th level, they can be quite powerful.

Yeah, they're huge piles of HP that your WitW can use as a buffer between himself or herself and the things trying to snuff out his/her existence.

Also you can stuff them full of greater shadows. Nothing fun comes of them grabbing you and having tons of shadows reach out from inside them to strength drain you to death.
