You know the Cat RPG? The one by John Wick, not the Warriors one. For those of you not familiar with the game, it's set in the modern day, from the cats' perspective. Every thousand years, there's a competition between all species. Last time, the humans failed miserably, at the bottom of the heap, so they can't even see Boggins. Cats won, so they get magic powers, but also get the duty of protecting humans from Boggins. Boggins are creatures that feed off and cause negative human emotions, like greed, regret, sloth, and fear.
So for a campaign, I was thinking I could have cats try to overthrow humans. I have questions for you.
How many cats, humans, and other animals are there in different parts of the world?
What other factions (inducing other species) would become involved?
How would humans fight back? What kind of defenses do they have against this kind of thing?
Boggins would join the cats at some point, probably hoping to overthrow them later. How would their unique talents be applied to warfare?
Here's what the Boggins are like:
Greenies: Cause greed. Look like little devils.
Lurker: Cause fear. Humanoid.
Ghosts: Cause regret. Appear as lost loved ones.
Heavies: Cause laziness. Look like spider, can spin webs and everything.
Shoulda, Woulda, and Coulda: Cause self-doubt. Probably also like devils, it doesn't say.
Homebrew ones:
Ents: Cause depression. Look like trees on top of the victim's head. Can drop seeds on others.
Little Green Men: Cause insanity. Small, green, wrinkled, and humanoid. Can open portals to the Dream World and their spit makes things act like Dream, meaning they can be changed by force of will. (Humans can't really control what they make happen in Dream.)
The Dream World is just as real as the other, though more bizarre and metaphorical. If a cat bites or scratches someone (and uses a magic point) then they can find them in Dream, otherwise it's very difficult. Again, military applications? Also, the Dream world is inhabited by Nightmares, which trap people in Dream in specialized psychological prisons, because they feed on fear.
A Boggin gets more powerful the longer it feeds on someone until finally it can possess them.
One last question: What questions have I forgotten to ask?
