You know the Cat RPG? The one by John Wick, not the Warriors one. For those of you not familiar with the game, it's set in the modern day, from the cats' perspective. Every thousand years, there's a competition between all species. Last time, the humans failed miserably, at the bottom of the heap, so they can't even see Boggins. Cats won, so they get magic powers, but also get the duty of protecting humans from Boggins. Boggins are creatures that feed off and cause negative human emotions, like greed, regret, sloth, and fear.
So for a campaign, I was thinking I could have cats try to overthrow humans. I have questions for you.

How many cats, humans, and other animals are there in different parts of the world?
What other factions (inducing other species) would become involved?
How would humans fight back? What kind of defenses do they have against this kind of thing?
Boggins would join the cats at some point, probably hoping to overthrow them later. How would their unique talents be applied to warfare?

Here's what the Boggins are like:
Greenies: Cause greed. Look like little devils.
Lurker: Cause fear. Humanoid.
Ghosts: Cause regret. Appear as lost loved ones.
Heavies: Cause laziness. Look like spider, can spin webs and everything.
Shoulda, Woulda, and Coulda: Cause self-doubt. Probably also like devils, it doesn't say.
Homebrew ones:
Ents: Cause depression. Look like trees on top of the victim's head. Can drop seeds on others.
Little Green Men: Cause insanity. Small, green, wrinkled, and humanoid. Can open portals to the Dream World and their spit makes things act like Dream, meaning they can be changed by force of will. (Humans can't really control what they make happen in Dream.)

The Dream World is just as real as the other, though more bizarre and metaphorical. If a cat bites or scratches someone (and uses a magic point) then they can find them in Dream, otherwise it's very difficult. Again, military applications? Also, the Dream world is inhabited by Nightmares, which trap people in Dream in specialized psychological prisons, because they feed on fear.

A Boggin gets more powerful the longer it feeds on someone until finally it can possess them.

One last question: What questions have I forgotten to ask?

What the cat said.
I did take a look at wikipedia though, and their numbers for cats are:

Domestic cats
Cats are a common companion animal in Europe and North America, and their worldwide population exceeds 500 million.[10] In 1998 there were around 43 million cats in Western Europe, 33 million in Eastern Europe, seven million in Japan and three million in Australia.[181] A 2007 report stated that about 37 million US households owned cats, with an average of 2.2 cats per household giving a total population of around 82 million.[182]
It has long been common for cats to be eaten in some parts of China and in some other Asian countries and it is estimated that in southern China's Guangdong province people eat 10,000 cats a day.[190] Animal People estimates that 4 million cats are killed and consumed in Asia every year.[191]

Feral cats
Feral cats are wild cats that are unfamiliar with humans and roam freely in urban or rural areas.[9] The numbers of feral cats are not known, but estimates of the US feral population range from 25 to 60 million.[9] Feral cats may live alone, but most are found in large groups called feral colonies, which occupy a specific territory and are usually associated with a source of food.[223] Famous feral cat colonies are found in Rome around the Colosseum and Forum Romanum, with cats at some of these sites being fed and vetted by volunteers.[224]

A feral cat colony (or "clowder") is a population of feral cats. The term is used primarily when a noticeable population of feral cats live together in a specific location and use a common food source. The term is not typically applied to solitary cats passing through an area. A clowder can range from 3-25 cats.[5] Their locations vary, some hiding in alleyways or in large parks.

Members consist of adult females, their young, and some adult males. Unneutered males in a clowder fight each other for territory and for females. Some will be driven out to find another place to live.

The lifespan of feral cats is hard to determine accurately, although one study reported a median age of 4.7 years, with a range between 0 to 8.3 years,[5] while another paper referenced a mean life span of 2 – 8 years.[6] For contrast, in captivity, an average life expectancy for male indoor cats at birth is 12 to 14 years,[7] with females usually living a year or two longer.

So at least in the US you could probably almost double the domestic population to get the whole.

I never heard of this but I'm also a cat enthusiast so  Anyways, cats are pretty much every where in the world where they are seen as pets/mice hunters.
If this story is centered about protecting humans from Boggins you could pretty much include every animal that is a basic pet. Rabbits, horses, birds, maybe fish but especially dogs. To freshen it up you could make the dogs and cats cooperate instead of that endless boring and dragging 'cat vs. dog' mentality that seems to last in every story that involves them. Make the different pets specialists or something. Cats being the magical master planners, birds the spies, dogs are bodyguards. If they're all at least a bit magical they could escape the house while humans are out for work or something.

Also you might want to take into consideration how long ago it has been since the last competition. Is there going to be another one soon? If so the animals might get a bit antsy with each other since they'll probably want to win. If not they might be a bit more happy with each other.

Just some thoughts, it looks pretty interesting at least =)
