Traveller really isn't about the space ships or the psionics or anything. It's about a bunch of homeless guys in more debt than some small countries trying to hawk cargo.

It's a pic of Hakurei Reimu, a Shrine Maiden (or Miko) from Touhou (A bullet-dodging old school shoot-em-up game for PC which branches off into many many manga and music videos, set in a paralell Japan full of ancient spirits who don't act like ancient spirits). She is the main character as well as one of the strongest, taking on Gods, Deamons, Oni, Vampires and anything else you throw at her, so I always love to see her badass and since she uses divine magic I think her closest class is cleric. She must be Tier 1 as she's the only one to beat Yukari Yakumo in canon who is pretty much beyond God level power and the only Phantasm level boss in the entire series. (Sorry if I'm rambling, I just love Touhou and know quite alot about it, if you wanna know more just PM me).

A strength-20 (dragon) sorcerer is actually workable in 4E, as it adds bonus damage to their spells.

…Granted, they’ve dropped a few tiers in effectiveness, even considering how the magic classes were nerfed when it was made.

Marisa as a 4e Dragon Sorcerer? Damn now I want to start a 4e Touhou themed campaign! Reimu Cleric, Marisa Sorcerer, Alice as a wizard, China as a Monk, Satori as a Psion and Suika as a barbarian! Sounds do-able.

Well, knowing her behaviour, I think Marisa as a wild-blooded sorcerer would make much more sense, especially as that one adds dexterity to damage, and has more lazery/sparklike attacks.

Also, going to shamelessly plug Legend (http://www.ruleofcool.com/) right now and offer the theory that this was the game Red mage was playing in 8-bit theatre, as opposed to regular ol' 3.5.

Hey now, Master Roshi was a lot higher than a mere level 1. He's got to be at least in the teens, and maybe even low epic. It's just that everyone else ended up taking his level and adding a few zeroes to the end for their own level.

Cosmic magic could also work because of all her star and moon imagery but you're probably on the nose with wild magic. Also might have to rethink Reimu (possibly an invoker in 4e, dont know bout 3.5).

In DragonBall then yes, his Jackie Chun fight was at LEAST lvl 13 (probably closer to 16-17). But if we're only talking about DBZ I would use Goku vs Frieza as the first Epic fight meaning the battle vs Vegeta and Nappa was probably for a lvl 5 or 6 party when you look at the power gap. Master Roshi was too weak to fight in that fight. He was weaker than Yamcha at that point. YAMCHA! So he must be between lvl 1-3 on the DBZ power scale. Just depends what power scale you use.

Where do people pull all these high levels from?
Granted, they are ridiculously powerful, but somehow I think Roshi was level 13, or even mid-level... I think everyone was under level 10 in the original DragonBall.
Do you have any basis for these numbers?
I know that the main characters' and BBEGs' levels get arbitrarily high later on, but that Roshi part is bothering me...

I'd say it's more dependent on what class everyone was, if they were ardents (which is the closest to matching their abilities) then they never left the lower teens throughout all of DBZ. If they were swordsages and warlocks then you went a very small way into epic. If you assume they were just monks then I need to punch you.

Sorry man if I offended you, was just meant to be a little joke about the difference in power between them (maybe I should have made a joke about him being a DM-NPC). Was a joke and just that.

About the levels, I tend to think of levels being dependant do the structre aroung them. Level 20 is simply to me the highest something in that universe should get unless they go ridiculous like DBZ. If I was making a joke about say Yuri Lowell from Tales of Vesperia or Captain Carrot from Discworld they would be high teens (Yuri is the second strongest human on the planet by the end of the game and Carrot could take out golems and trolls). Compare them to any D&D hero and they would barely be hitting 5, probably much lower (just a quick guess, no calculations). If I look at something like Naruto or One Piece then I would measure them against the strongest from that (Madara or Whitebeard being lvl 20). In their own world Naruto would be around 15 (a close threat to Madara but not quite direct competiton) and Luffy would be barely lvl 10 pre-timeskip (taking out some big shots with help from his friends and circumstances). In D&D Naruto would be better than any Ninja below epic and Luffy would be a higher Martial class, easily destroying battle ships with his bear hands (what lvl monk would he need to be to do that?). Trying to measure someone outside of their own universe is kind of silly but no offense to those who wanna try and do it realisticaly. For DBZ I picked Frieza vs Goku as the first Epic battle in my mind due to the first show of planetery destruction and scaled back from there. In Dragon Ball If Goku was low lvl when he met Bulma then I think Roshi (as Jackie Chun) would be round lvl 15 ish and the final battle of Piccolo vs Goku as a straight out lvl 20 vs lvl 20. Again, was talking about the monk from Legend rather than 3.5. All the melee classes in that game gained a tier or so and all the casters went down 1. Mostly because the Max spell level is 7 and the d.cs to do things like restoring the dead using the heal skill or being able to climb on air and fly are only around d.c 30. Helps that stat bonuses are not few or far between ethier.

In their own world Naruto would be around 15 (a close threat to Madara but not quite direct competiton) and Luffy would be barely lvl 10 pre-timeskip (taking out some big shots with help from his friends and circumstances). In D&D Naruto would be better than any Ninja below epic and Luffy would be a higher Martial class, easily destroying battle ships with his bear hands (what lvl monk would he need to be to do that?). It's just so common to see people throwing around arbitrarily high levels for characters of all kinds... Like the classic Gandalf example...

To slash? Doubtfully. To pierce? Most likely. Normally I'd say it would need some real force behind it to do that in such a case, but Luffy has more than enough of that.

How sharp a blade is is determined by the angle of its cutting edge, so stretching out a claw would give you a more narrow point, thus actually giving you a sharper claw.

About the levels, I tend to think of levels being dependant do the structre aroung them. Level 20 is simply to me the highest something in that universe should get unless they go ridiculous like DBZ. If I was making a joke about say Yuri Lowell from Tales of Vesperia or Captain Carrot from Discworld they would be high teens (Yuri is the second strongest human on the planet by the end of the game and Carrot could take out golems and trolls). Compare them to any D&D hero and they would barely be hitting 5, probably much lower (just a quick guess, no calculations). If I look at something like Naruto or One Piece then I would measure them against the strongest from that (Madara or Whitebeard being lvl 20). In their own world Naruto would be around 15 (a close threat to Madara but not quite direct competiton) and Luffy would be barely lvl 10 pre-timeskip (taking out some big shots with help from his friends and circumstances). In D&D Naruto would be better than any Ninja below epic and Luffy would be a higher Martial class, easily destroying battle ships with his bear hands (what lvl monk would he need to be to do that?). Trying to measure someone outside of their own universe is kind of silly but no offense to those who wanna try and do it realisticaly. For DBZ I picked Frieza vs Goku as the first Epic battle in my mind due to the first show of planetery destruction and scaled back from there. In Dragon Ball If Goku was low lvl when he met Bulma then I think Roshi (as Jackie Chun) would be round lvl 15 ish and the final battle of Piccolo vs Goku as a straight out lvl 20 vs lvl 20. But that is how I do it and nothing more. If you look at it from D&D standpoint only then Goku only learned Teleport when Mecha Frieza was killed. A spell that a lvl 9 wizard can learn (i think, no experience with 3.5) took till the Android saga to show up. You cant measure things by something elses power scale. Thats how internet wars start (eg. Goku vs Superman or The Empire of Star Wars vs The Imperium of 40k).

As I said again, it was a joke not meant to be taken seriously. Personally I love lower lvl guys from Dragon Ball like Krillen and the only Saiyan I like is Gohan and thats mostly due to personality. Roshi is kick ass! Didn't mean to diss the old guy, quite the opposite. Sorry, my bad.

Luffy's no monk. He's a warblade with Abberant Blood, Inhuman Reach (DM allowed him to spend another feat to take away the penalty to attack rolls), and Extended Reach. Or a template.

And there is no way he was 10th level in Alabasta.

I sadly do not know the source comic. Though reading back through that, I'd kinda like to know myself.. Does anyone here know what that comic is?

This is probably long since answered (the thread has gone on many pages, and this is but my first viewing). But
errant story (http://www.errantstory.com), which is now winding down and in its last few pages. It is, hands down, my favorite webcomic, and the only one other than this which I read regularly. I would recommend anyone who doesn't mind seeing the occasional (but rare) nipple or 5-syllable word read it.

As a note, it is often disturbing, violent, and contains many references which I doubt anyone under the age of 25 will get (unless you read a lot, have played every game Working Designs ever published, and/or read his previous webcomic (http://www.exploitationnow.com)*). It is a mature story in every sense of the word.

If anyone is interested in the actual answer it's a scene from the Norwegian civil wars (late 12th, early 13th century). The baby is the son of the last king who's being taken to safety because various claimants to the throne (the king having died before the birth of his son) would want to kill him to secure their claims

In addition, the faction that saved Haakon by skiing him to safety was known as the Birkebeiners. This even in history was known as the Race of the Birkebeiners. There are annual ski races in Norway and Wisconsin to commemorate the event. If I’m not mistaken skiers have to carry extra weight to simulate carrying baby Haakon along with them.

The Bard is the Core equivalent. And what's not to say Red Mage is four bards in one body? Four souls, one mind (operating at 4x the normal speed), four turns per round, one set of class features?

If you are allowed splats, though, yeah, it's an insult.

I dunno, Bardic Knowledge and Inspire Courage bonuses would fit (even if noone used them). But he probably took (at least) eight levels of Factotum in there somewhere and was probably finishing Sublime Chord (or at least its casting) pre-epic. That might even be possible, but I don't have CArc to find the relevant prerequisites for Sublime Chord (that is the accelerated casting PrC, right?).

Yea, sorry everyone, I stick to core, and it just kind of seemed that way to me.

Little offensive casting, a few healing spells, the weapon and armor selection, the fact that he's not as awesome at any one thing that the others can do, but he can fill in for all them if the need for their specialty isn't requiring an epic use of said skill. It just shouts bard.

I was going to make it say something like: "Four person party, with a fifth wheel" but I couldn't make it sound right.

So either change the tags from IMG to URL:

What?

It's not the sheathing I'm having issues with. But the rules specifically states that it's at least 5 rounds to hastily don your armor (for some reason got it into my head that light could be donned in 1 round...), but since it specifically states armor it doesn't cover weapons... and that amount would take a while to get on. :p

any really, just make sure all the monsters are several size catagories larger than the PCs :) a more relaxed system like Legend might also help

I really like the idea of a campaign build upon this premise. But I feel it would serve the theme best if the system actually supported it. That is, i would probably make a system from scratch to fit the idea.

Maybe one ought to take it to the homebrew forum.

Ehh I'd actually keep Lawful Evil, but bump Mollari into Neutral Evil if I had made the chart... Not sure of Morden though. I mean he's not good, but he's also not acting completely on his own free will. But he is an interesting take on a chaotic evil character. Either way it all depends on angles and when in the show you see them, they change over time. I just liked the chart and figured I'd share it. :)

In pokemon after you use up all the pp ups you can, it is still limited by the pp, and other then using eithers/elixirs which are very limited in any given game or by going to pokemon centers, you are stuck. With Wizards it feels like there are a lot more ways around it like reserve feats.

Also I loved the pick of pokemon, Gardevoir as I always picture as a soft female mentality.

I have not made any demotivators so I can't pay my tax and I need to get going to class (ok I might repost my favorite ones that appeared back in the first 2 threads :P)

It was a joke, that song is from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. The whole series is about evolving, becoming a better and stronger person, believing in yourself, believing in others, never giving up and fighting the odds for the good fight.

I'm going to guess that your caring enough to say something means you enjoy pixar/disney films to begin with. That being said, the movie is worth the cost, go buy it as soon as you can. My group calls anyone with some kind of ability to find traps, regardless of how or why, we call it "Ackbar-sense" and the player has to throw a little plastic squid onto the map when ever it goes off. Its funny.
