How many pages would it take to copy every wizard spell in the SRD (not including illusion or enchantment spells)?

One page per spell level, shouldn't be too hard to count.

One or two Blessed Books should do the trick...

Thought I could trick someone into it :(

Sorry, but the GitP forums are fairly idiot-free.:smalltongue:

Since the spells are listed several different ways, here's the link you need for this one. Broken up by school and level. No need to click to doublecheck the level or school.
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spellLists/sorcererWizardSpells.htm

Or you can just open up your PHB and start reading at the sorc/wiz spell list.
ANyway, if you've got that many spells, why aren't you putting them into a Boccobs blessed book? Now it's 1000 pages of spells, and no scribing costs.

Not at level one. Anyways, there are 1260 pages worth of spells excluding illusion and enchantment spell lists in core.

I have decided not to even have animate dead, create undead, or create greater undead in my spellbook so I will need 1242 pages.

I will ask my DM for a custom version which has 1250 pages at a cost of 16000 gp (it would actually be 15625 even but I like round numbers).

Is this where we mention Spell Compendium?

(Somewhat) seriously speaking, I would approximate the number of pages to roughly inf, due to the insane amounts of publications, all of which seem to include at least one or two spells...

OP specifically mentioned SRD.

*groan* I think I failed a spot check there... My apologies.

OP specifically mentioned SRD.

I'm actually surprised that it's only in the area of 1200. I thought it would be more.

Oh wait, it excludes illusion and enchantment. That makes a bit more sense.

Don't forget to include an index or something so you can actually find the spells you want.

A two level dip in Geometer reduces this considerably.

There are about 40 1st level spells. Assuming that's ballpark for all levels, that means there are roughly 40 * (9+1) * 9 / 2 + 40 = 1840 pages. The last +40 are for cantrips. I'm gonna guess 1800 pages give or take a hundred pages. 50 pages per spellbook, so 36 books give or take or 2 boccob's blessed books. Removing 2 schools is about 3/4 that for 1350 give or take. Hey, if it's 1250 I wasn't that far off. Huzzah for quick estimates.

Some would say that being off by 33% is pretty off.

Off by only 100. You missed the part where he took off 450 pages for the two barred schools.

Approximately 1659 for all the spells on the list. I'll subtract the enchantment and illusion ones now.

*edit*
The number of spell pages excluding enchantment and illusion spells should be 1257, but I may have made mistakes while counting them all up.

The spells per level of 1 through 9 have a maximum of 50 at level two and 24 at level five. The average of them is about 39.1111 . So, using the number 40 as an average isn't far off.

It also may be worth noting that if only SRD spells are used, then dropping Illusion and Enchantment decreases your potential spell list substantially. The two schools make up an average of 23.59% of level 1-9 spells. They are responsible for only about 20% of the level 1 spells, but make up over 30% of the level 8 spells.

*edit2*

Also, do your own goddamn counting next time you lazy bum.

Out of morbid curiosity, for what point and purpose are you preparing such a... complete... grimoire? (Incidentally, as a DM or player?)
