I have a question for you all. Can a Ranger beginning at level 1 spend skillpoints on Craft(alchemy)? Alchemy has a prerequisite of being a spellcaster, which the Ranger is, although it doesn't get spells until level 4. I don't suppose there is an "official" ruling somewhere?

There is no pre-requisite to spend the skillpoints on Craft (Alchemy), only to actually use the skill.

I always houseruled away that garbage. Why should only spellcasters be able to figure out which semi-magical substances react with others? No thank you, if you can brew a poison, you can brew alchemy. I just gave spellcasters a +2 for familiarity, and that was only arcane casters.

I can see why PF dropped that. Play pathfinder! :)

Better yet, play an actual Alchemist if you want to use lots of alchemy.
