Spell Shield and Cantrips

Quick question, folks, about the Spell Shield sorcerer alternate class feature from Dungeonscape. Can one sacrifice cantrip slots to prevent damage, and if so, how much damage would they prevent?

You could sacrifice a cantrip, but would prevent no damage. 5*0 = 0.

Cantrips are almost invariably treated as half a level for the purposes of anything that goes off spell level. So, 5 * .5 = 2.5. Round down, IIRC, so, 2 damage.

Seems fair.
