hi there. i've never seen the class played, but from some mentions on the forums, i heard it was not so hot, other than for some dips. has anyone done any sort of fix for them? i tried searching using various combinations of "hexblade" "fix" and "homebrew" and came up with way too much. anoyone knows of such a thing?

The Developer responsible for the Hexblade suggested some changes, but those changes only manage to make it a little less awful.

There's a couple of fixes lying around that give it either Invocation or more spellcasting (ala Duskblade), and at least one that gives both (can't remember where that one is though).

Here's the invocation based one. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121647) Works kinda like DFAs, where you have your general Hex, usable at will as a swift action, and then you have Hex Effects kinda like DFA's have Breath Effects. You can apply one Hex Effect per hex. Very nice for action economy, since you can hex often (although hex durations are all VERY short) and still move + attack or full attack. After all, Hexblade is primarily a martial class, unlike Warlock or DFA which play out similar to caster.

A while ago I made a bunch of hexblade-related homebrew, including a alternate class based on tweaks of the original author's revision that Amphetryon posted. You can find it, along with a bunch of other hexblade-related homebrew, in the Hexblade Homebrew Handbook (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=146389).

Also, a quick search of the homebrew forum came up with the following hexblade fixes. I haven't looked at all of them, just posted the links.

Lord Gareth's Malefactor (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=202885&highlight=hexblade)

Ziegander's Hexblade Reborn (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=198555&highlight=hexblade)

Pikazul's Martial Adept Hexblade (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=171604&highlight=hexblade)

Chambers' Heroic Hexblade (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=161302&highlight=hexblade)

The Shadowmind's Yet Another Hexblade Fix (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=151953&highlight=hexblade)

realbomchu's Modified Hexblade (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=151077&highlight=hexblade)

Vallum's Pathfinder Hexblade (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=204696&highlight=hexblade)

Hope that helps.

I'd give it casting like the Mystic Ranger(Something I also do to pallys), and make its Curse like a Binder ability, once every five rounds or so. Better spells, 5th level spells, and a good Fort save would do wonders.

Here's my fix (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=11990844) which I came up with for a player a while back but just posted recently.

It features better Skills, a strong Fort and Will Save, slightly better spell progression, better bonus feats, a superior hex mechanic, and several new class features. Do with it what you will.
